Excel is a complete program with endless functionalities that you hardly know how to take full advantage of, one of these is the possibility of copying a sheet to another book in the same.

The task of copying the information that we save in a sheet of the file to another location is simplified without losing the format.

It’s actually quite simple, and after learning how to use it, users often wonder how they didn’t learn it sooner.

It is especially useful when making an Excel spreadsheet to calculate rental prices. Also with the fact of adding cells from different sheets in Excel,

Simplifying and optimizing work is not impossible, that’s why we bring you this quick and easy guide to start copying a sheet to another workbook in Excel.

Steps to copy a sheet to another Excel workbook

It’s very simple, all you have to do is have the information you want to duplicate completely ready and in the desired format.

However, if the data is required in a new file or book, both the container and the receiver must be open. Located in the sheet to be reproduced, the cursor is moved to the bottom where the sheet panel is located.

Then right click on the sheet in question, and select the fourth option, called “Move or copy”. This will generate a new window.

The latter has two sections, in the first, you determine in which book you want to place the data (in the same, another open or a new one).

And in the second, in which specific sheet will it be placed. If it is a page of the issuing file itself, it gives the option to choose between the different ones it has, as well as in another sector of the same page.

This menu can also be accessed from the upper panel, in the “Home” tab, “Cells” section, by clicking on “Format” and choosing “Move or copy”.

The best thing about this way of passing, copying or moving information is that, being the desktop application, the data formats will be preserved, so they will not have to be applied again in the final destination.

Copy a sheet to another Excel workbook from the web

In this case, Excel web does not have the option to copy or move directly on the right click. To get what you’re looking for, you have to copy the data from one sheet to another.

Using Microsoft Office free online, or specifically Excel, is quite simple. In a short time and without problems, adapting costs nothing, just a willingness to learn.

The method is manual, but knowing it is as important as knowing how to do it from the desktop application. The steps to follow consist of:

  • Select all of the data in the spreadsheet that you want to move. The fastest and easiest way to do this is from the keyboard. For which, the commands “CTRL + space bar” are pressed and then “Shift + space bar” must be pressed.
  • To continue, the step to be carried out consists of copying the data of the sheet that has been selected in the previous point. For that you can use “CTRL + C”

  • Now open the workbook you want to paste the data into, then click the “+” sign at the bottom (the status bar) to add a new blank sheet.
  • Finally, position the cursor in the first cell, to click on it and proceed to paste the information.
To achieve this, it is recommended to use the “CTRL + V” keys together, a command that will paste the data from the clipboard to the spreadsheet.

It is important to keep in mind that, if the process will be carried out from Excel for the web, when copying a sheet to another workbook, the conditional formatting that was applied to the cells of the source workbook will not be preserved.
