In a previous article we were able to see how to silence a WhatsApp group that you have joined, that effective technique to not receive notifications from groups that we do not want at that moment and today we will see how to silence WhatsApp statuses of a contact in simple steps.
What is mute on WhatsApp?
Silence is called the action of blocking any notification of the selected contact, in case of silencing Whastapp notifications and groups in the «Chat» section we will be deactivating sound notifications such as those that appear in the bottom bar of the screen and in the case of the “Status” section we simply stop seeing the new statuses of that contact.
This contact does not receive notifications or notices about these changes that you made in WhatsApp, so it would be a change that would only be noticed in your application and not in your contact’s because this would generate a problem for many application users.
In addition, this contact can continue sending you messages, videos and audios here that you would always receive them, the difference is that you will no longer have notifications and to see them you must enter the main chat of the application to maintain conversations, make video calls as normal.
Another more extreme alternative is to temporarily deactivate WhatsApp and stop using it for a while, if you don’t want to have any kind of conversation in that way with anyone, and then activate it whenever you want.
How to do it?
To start we must go to our application and in the “States” section we will locate the contact that we will silence on this occasion, we keep it selected and check the option that appears on the screen to accept the silence towards that contact.
Once we accept our contact within the “States” section, it will be in the “Muted” section and there we can always go to verify which users we have silenced in our WhatsApp and if we want to, we can deactivate the silence.
How do I disable status silence on WhatsApp?
Very easy. We must go to the «States» section, there look for the section of silenced contacts and select the contact that we must deactivate from its silence in our states.
It sends us a message on the screen that confirms the action of deactivating the silence towards that contact and we only have to accept it to be able to see its status again in our main section.
We can go back to silence and deactivate as many times as necessary without limits of this action, just as we do with a group or contact in the chat.
Can I receive messages from a muted contact in WhatsApp statuses?
Of course, the silence is only made when it is updated in WhatsApp States and in this way you can continue having chat conversations, receive video calls and multimedia content without problems.
In the event that we have silenced their statuses and at the same time, we silence the contact in the usual chat section, then we would be blocking all daily interaction with this contact.
We will not receive notifications of new messages, photos and audios to our WhatsApp because we block any notification from both sections. By deactivating any lock, we will return to the normal functions of each contact.
This option should be done only if necessary and always keep in mind that all the silences that we carry out, both from states and chat, can be deactivated at any time without limits or restrictions on their use.
It is available for any device that has WhatsApp downloaded and has it running. If you don’t have it yet, you can download WhatsApp from the Play Store.
Remember that this contact will only be muted in this application, so you will still receive direct calls from your mobile phone line and text messages (SMS) from that muted contact in the application and it is only a configuration available for WhatsApp, it is not you can mute contacts from the mobile device only.
