From iOS 8 onwards, Apple offers a major update to the Siri assistant, being able to quickly detect or recognize songs when listening to them.
It has done this by integrating the technology used in Shazam, the most famous app to identify songs in other applications or audio recognition, to the Siri assistant.
By integrating these two powerful tools, Apple has put in the hands of its users the possibility of recognizing the music they want to listen to easily and quickly, even using the Siri assistant as a personal translator.
You will no longer have to have an extra application or wait for it to open, but you will only have to indicate a voice command to the assistant and wait a few seconds for the results.
Recognize songs with Siri
To start you must have the Siri assistant activated on your device. To do this, go to Settings and look for the Siri section; Once there, activate the Siri option. If you wish, you can also activate the Hey Siri option, this will allow you to activate the assistant without pressing buttons, only with your voice.
The moment you hear the song you want to recognize, activate the Siri assistant. This will depend on how it is configured, it can be by pressing the Home button or with the “Hey Siri” command.
Now you need to command Siri to listen to the song. You can say something like “Siri, what’s playing?”, “What song is playing?” or some similar command.
Wait for the assistant to tell you that it is listening and move the device closer to the music. After a few seconds, Siri will show you the search result on the screen.
Note that this works with pre-recorded music, it probably won’t work if you’re trying to search for music by humming into the mic while at a concert or live music festival.
Install ITunes Store and look for the list of recognized songs with Siri
This app integrates a media player and the multimedia content store developed by Apple. With it you can play, organize and synchronize your iPod, iPhone, iPad and buy multimedia content.
Siri stores all the searches you’ve done to recognize songs in a list. To view it, install the iTunes Store application on your device.
To do this, access the App Store, go to the search tab and type iTunes Store in the search bar. Select the application and click the download icon.
Wait a few minutes while the app downloads and installs. Once the installation is finished, open the application by clicking on the star icon.
On the main screen you will see an icon with three dots located in the upper right corner, click on it and then you will see three tabs.
Scroll to the Siri tab and you will see a list where the songs recognized with the intelligent assistant will be, along with the price of each song in case you want to buy it.
