At the end, we will expose the strengths and weaknesses of each model, so that you know first-hand all those basic characteristics that you should know before making a purchase decision.

Dimensions

We start with the dimensions of the Ioniq 5. The South Korean model has a body 4,635 mm long, 1,890 mm wide and 1,605 mm high, all on a platform with a 3,000 mm wheelbase.

On the other hand, the electric Peugeot 2008, commercially known as e-2008, offers 4,300 mm in length, 1,770 mm in width and 1,530 mm in height, with a wheelbase that reaches 2,605 mm.

Trunk

Let’s go to the trunk section. In the case of the Hyundai model, it has two trunks, one in front and one in the rear, which offer a combined volumetric capacity of almost 590 litres. In addition, the rear seats can be folded down, increasing cargo space to 1,590 litres.

In the case of Peugeot’s electric SUV, the trunk has 405 liters of volumetric capacity. We do not have the load figure with the rear seats folded down, but we do know that it offers up to five seats inside, just like the Ioniq 5.

Engines

With regard to engines, the Ioniq 5 is available with a 170 hp version and a 58 kWh battery that allows it to travel up to 380 km on a single charge. Another variant offers 218 hp and a 73 kWh battery with a range of 480 km. The range is completed by a version with 306 hp, all-wheel drive, a 73 kWh battery and a range of 430 km.

Meanwhile, the mechanical offer of the Peugeot e-2008 is limited to a single 136 hp electric motor, which is powered by a 50 kWh lithium-ion battery and a range between charges of up to 337 km. This version sends power to the front end.

Standard equipment

Meanwhile, the Peugeot e-2008 is available from 36,380 euros in the Active version with 136 hp and a 50 kWh battery.

conclusion

As you can see, the strengths of the Ioniq 5 are that it is a larger car with a trunk with a greater volumetric capacity. It also offers a range of engines with different options to choose from, various power levels and two batteries that offer ranges of up to 480 km on a single charge.

In addition, the Hyundai model is slightly cheaper if promotional discounts are applied and has more complete standard equipment.

On the contrary, the electric Peugeot 2008 is smaller, but more maneuverable and usable in the city, where it is also easier to park. In addition, without applied discounts, it has a similar price to that of the Ioniq 5 (only a difference of 70 euros).
