If we carry out good maintenance on it, we will have several hours without having to connect the equipment to the electrical network to work.
On the contrary, a defective battery can give us more than one headache, especially if we walk around with our laptop all day. After years of use of this equipment, this component that we are mentioning can deteriorate over time. Hence, sometimes we may consider replacing it. While the rest of the hardware remains valid, the battery gives us many problems, therefore, we can consider changing it.
But first of all we should consult some type of report regarding this very important hardware element. That is precisely what we are going to help you with in the next few lines. And Windows offers us a command that many of you do not know and that generates a complete report related to the laptop battery.
To benefit from it, all we have to do is open a command prompt window with administrator permissions. We do this by typing the CMD command in the search box of the Windows taskbar.
This Windows command offers all the battery data
At this point and if you need to know in detail the status and data related to your laptop’s battery, let’s see which is the most useful command. This is responsible for generating a complete report of battery usage over time. Therefore, once we are in the command prompt window, we type the following:
powercfg /batteryreport
After a few seconds, the command itself will offer us the path where the file with the report as such has been stored by default.
It is a file in HTML format that we can open with any web browser, for example. Therefore, all we have left to do is access that disk path and take a look at all the data that will be offered here related to our PC battery. Recent use. We can see the battery cycles in the last 3 days showing both the percentages and the capacity in milliwatt-hours (mWh).
Battery capacity history. This section shows the original capacity of the battery and the full charge capacity over a long period of time.
Estimation of battery life. We will see the estimated times of the component over a period of time along with the source capacity estimates.
