Crossover Adventure, this is how Kymco has called its new DTX 125 and 350, scooters designed to ride on asphalt, but also on tracks in good condition. They are direct heirs to the build quality and mechanical robustness of the popular Super Dink, although they offer us a very different way of tackling all kinds of journeys with a style and equipment that, moreover, has been adjusted specifically for the Spanish market.Kymco DTX 125/350 – 2022

The new Kymco DTX 125 and 350 are one of the most interesting and different proposals from the Taiwanese manufacturer. In this way, it points to the Crossover style that seems to be penetrating the world of the scooter, with new alternatives that arrive to bring a little fresh air to this market, without being limited to strictly urban or asphalt use. The new DTXs show Kymco’s approach in this segment, offering something different, especially on an aesthetic level, but without forgetting the essential functionality and practicality in this type of vehicle.

As the origin of this new project, Kymco has taken another mythical model of the brand as a reference; the SuperDink. A benchmark in safety, comfort and elegance, of which up to 65,000 units have been registered since its launch in Spain in 2009. In this way, we are faced with scooters in the purest Crossover style, with ergonomics that stand out the new handlebar with a position and angle that offers greater control on uneven surfaces or, a seat, with generous internal foam.

Meanwhile, on an aesthetic level, the DTX have a body with very angular and pointed shapes that give it a robust and highly technological appearance. At the same time, these are two quite bulky scooters, with dimensions (2,165 x 780 x 1,285 mm; seat height of 790 mm) that should give them great roominess, even with a companion.

Kymco Spain is a subsidiary of the Taiwanese manufacturer that is very aware of the market at hand. Since its arrival, it has always been very attentive to the needs and preferences of its customers, demonstrating on more than one occasion that it does not miss the opportunity to demand from its parent company, the pertinent changes and improvements, to adjust its products according to taste. of the Spanish. In the specific case of the Kymco DTX, these focus on the seat, the mirrors -especially wide and with more adjustment angle- and the setting of the suspensions.

Apart from this preferential treatment, the DTX intended for our market will also enjoy very remarkable equipment both in quality and quantity, also providing great improvements and novelties such as its LCD digital dashboard or the Keyless proximity key system, accompanied by by the also new smart lock system that acts on the ignition, the steering lock and the opening of the seat.New Kymco DTX 125/350 2022Kymco DTX 125/350 – 2022

Also, among its standard equipment, the DTX will enjoy two USB connections to connect electronic devices (one in the front housing of the handlebar and another in the left glove box), a striking and efficient Full LED lighting, adjustable brake levers, and, of course, a space under the seat with capacity for two full-face helmets.

In addition, the 350 cc version will have the services of a disengageable traction control system that works in tune with the ABS anti-lock system. This is activated when the rotational speed of the rear wheel is greater than 5 km/h -equivalent to linear speed- with respect to the rotational speed of the front wheel. When both wheels return to turning at similar speeds (as long as the turning speed of the rear is below 5 km/h compared to the front), the engine returns to its normal ignition map.

As we mentioned at the beginning, the DTX will combine the best of a GT like the Super Dink, with its new spirit and adventurous concept. As a starting point, a robust steel frame has been taken as a reference, on the back of which Euro5 125 and 350 cc engines will be mounted, with powers of 12.87 CV at 9,000 rpm; and 28.16 hp at 7,500 rpm, respectively.

At the suspension level, after the different off-road tests, Kymco Spain has requested specific adjustments for the 37/110 mm hydraulic telescopic fork and the 100 mm double shock absorber adjustable in 5 spring preload positions. A luxury for both versions that will also share braking (two 260 mm discs with a 3-piston caliper at the front and a 240 mm disc with a 2-piston caliper at the rear), and exclusive light alloy wheels, 5 spokes, equipped with 120/80 x 14″ and 150/70 x 13″ mixed tires.

The new Kymco DTX 125 and 350 will go on sale in March in four colors (green, silver gray and graphite, matte, and gloss orange) at a price that has not been announced at the moment.
