Sometimes we can get quite a scare if suddenly, while we are sleeping, the computer starts up by itself. This happens more times than we might think, although we can use several solutions to avoid it.

Whether we have the computer in the same room where we sleep, or in any other, the truth is that the fact that it starts up in the middle of the night is not recommended. This can be caused by various internal configurations of the operating system itself, in most cases Windows, so below we show you some solutions.

And here Microsoft offers us various integrated functions that allow us to greatly automate the turning on and off of our computer. But what is useful in certain circumstances can also become a serious problem, as is the case in the case we are talking about. To solve it, we recommend taking a look at some specific functions of the operating system that could be the cause of this automatic turning on of the computer.

Furthermore, in the event that we are dealing with a laptop, the situation may arise that when we really need it it has run out of battery. If the equipment turns on by itself, during the night or when we are not present during the day, the autonomy of the equipment can disappear without us realizing it.

How to prevent the PC from turning on by itself

Let’s look at some useful solutions in the form of Windows functions to solve this serious problem that can occur with our computer.

Disable system fast startup. This is something that may be given by the startup mode that we have configured on our Windows computer. And in order to save time at startup, we have a quick start mode. This allows us to speed up the ignition process, but it can also be the cause of this failure. In order to deactivate this mode, click on the battery icon on the taskbar and select Power Options. Here we can deactivate the option that we mentioned to avoid this automatic ignition problem.

They are tasks scheduled at a specific time that make Windows turn on by itself. Back in the Power Options, we now go to the advanced settings. In this section we recommend deactivating both reactivation timers.

sysdm.cpl

A new window will appear on the screen, where we go to the Advanced Options tab and locate the Startup and recovery section. From there we will have the possibility to uncheck the option that says Restart automatically.

Reboot automatically

These changes should solve the automatic turning on of our computer from this moment on. Once we have carried them out, we recommend restarting the PC.
