Shared memories
Working together on a shopping or to-do list: if you have to work with someone on a (small) project, it is very useful if you can both see which tasks still need to be done and when. Apple’s Reminders app is not an extensive project planner, but you can use it well for a joint list of jobs you are going to do or a list of restaurants you still want to go to. Sync shared reminders through iCloud
To share lists in Apple’s Reminders app, you must first allow the Reminders app to sync with iCloud. You do this as follows:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap your profile picture.
- Tap iCloud.
- Make sure the Reminders switch is checked.
If you now create a reminder list, an icon will be visible for sharing. you can only share with people who also use iCloud.
If you use Family Sharing, you automatically have a shared list called Family.
Create Shared Reminders List on iPhone and iPad
- Tap the list you want to share with someone else.
- Tap the three dots at the top right.
- Tap Share List.
- Choose the method you want, for example iMessage.
- Enter a name and tap the plus sign.
- An invitation will now be sent.
- Tap Done when you’re done.
The other person will receive an invitation and can accept it. From that moment on, that person can also add items to the list, edit items and change properties of tasks. It is not possible to assign tasks to a specific person. You can, however, enter some extra text in the notes of a reminder.
Task reminders will be sent to everyone you share the list with.
Accept shared reminder list invitation
If you receive an invitation to a reminder list from someone else, you can easily accept it. The invitation appears in the message center. If you accept, the shared list will also appear in your Reminders app. You can then view and edit the items.
