Tags make it easy to organize a list of tasks. On iPhone, iPad, and Mac, you can add tags in the Reminders app. In this tip we explain how that works.

Adding tags to your memories makes it easier to recognize and group them. Especially in combination with the smart lists in the Reminders app, it becomes a piece of cake to get an overview. The features are available from iOS 15, iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey.

Add tags to reminders on an iPhone or iPad

Adding tags is quite simple. You can add multiple tags to a reminder, in case a task falls under multiple categories. After adding tags, you will also find them in the main menu of the Reminders app. This is how you proceed:

  1. Open the Reminders app and tap + Reminder at the bottom left.
  2. Type a name for your task and then tap the pound sign (or cardinal sign, hashtag) above your keyboard.
  3. Enter a tag by typing. Your iPhone provides suggestions above the keyboard.

Tags in Memories

Once you have added tags, you can view them in the main menu of the Reminders app. Here you can tap on a tag to see all tasks, regardless of the list. Once all tasks are completed, the tag will disappear from the main menu. This way you can quickly see if you still have something to do. From a list of tags you can also quickly create new tasks with that tag.

You can also easily add tags on the Mac. The functionality is identical to the iPhone version of the Reminders app. Even better: all your tags are synchronized via iCloud. Of course, you can create new tasks from your Mac with macOS Monterey. This is how:

  1. Open the Reminders app and click on the white area in the right column to create a task.
  2. Give your task a name and add a tag below the name.
  3. You can also add tags by clicking the i symbol.
