Answering numbers from strangers has become a high-risk activity. Cybersecurity experts constantly warn us that more and more cybercriminals are calling to trick us and get our personal and banking information. It is advisable not to pick up, inform us what is hidden behind the number in question and block it if it is fraudulent. However, there are some that are impossible to block if you are an Orange customer.

The orange operator does not allow you to block certain phone numbers. These are the ones that include numbers with special pricing, such as those that begin with 900, 901 and 902. That is, if you are an Orange customer, forget about putting them on your mobile phone’s blacklist. Luckily, none of them are scams as such, but rather they are numbers that charge you when you call, so you have to be careful.

If you had the intention of blocking a number at an additional cost to avoid calling them accidentally and you are from Orange, it will not be possible. The telecommunications company does allow you to block other numbers associated with specific services for which they are also charged and can be blocked. This is the example of 80X, 905X and 118XX, which you can restrict. However, the situation changes with those that begin with 900, 901 and 902.

Why some yes and others no?

Orange differentiates between numbers with special rates and those with additional rates. The first ones include 900, 901 and 901 and, normally, they correspond to customer service services and inquiries from Social Security, the Tax Agency, banks… Their reason for being is important and, although they have an additional cost in Compared to other types of calls, the operator does not consider it appropriate that they can be blocked.

A different case is that of the numbers associated with additional pricing. In these cases, Orange will also reflect an additional charge on the end of the month bill when calling. However, the prefixes are associated with very different services, such as tarot, gambling, erotic lines, entertainment, etc. This is the case with numbers that begin with 803, 806, 807, 905 and 118.

Premium rate numbers can be blocked from the Orange line settings. All you have to do is log in to the Customer Area or the My Orange App and access the “My line” section. From there, you can click the “Manage my line” option and enter the “National calls” section. At that point, the operator will let you deactivate the numbers that charge you extra money depending on your needs.

You can also block them through the Google Assistant on WhatsApp (which is the number 653 85 00 85). You just have to ask them to deactivate calls to special numbers through the chat in the messaging application and the chatbot will do it for you. Whichever method you use, the process is free and will prevent you from accidentally calling premium-rate numbers.

On the contrary, this cannot be done with special rate numbers that begin with 900, 901, 902. These prefixes are widely used by companies and public entities for their customer service services. By blocking them, we are creating problems and making it difficult for the company on duty to provide us with help. In order to not complicate the task of accessing its essential services, Orange considers it appropriate to prevent its blocking.

As these numbers are usually paid, Orange customers will have to be careful not to call and have to pay more. On the Internet, there is information on the majority, to make sure how much you should pay extra and not be disappointed when you receive the bill from the orange operator at the end of the month.
