The search engine par excellence is continually renewing and updating functions to make it easier for us to find what we want. If you use Google Chrome, it is now more useful than ever thanks to the fact that its address bar has been renewed and now has interesting functions that will make it more practical, more useful and more functional. Its latest update brings five new improvements that can be very interesting and we will explain them to you.
Chrome usually updates the browser periodically, correcting all types of security holes or improvements that allow us to make the most of each function when we browse the Internet or that fix possible performance problems. But it also adds new functions. In this case, the update is focused on improving the experience with the address bar. Some improvements that will help us find and search for the sites we want more easily.
Address bar update
For the first of Chrome’s address bar improvements, Google has implemented smarter autocomplete. This means that the toolbar can now detect the word you’ve typed and match it to previous searches, autocompleting the URL based on your searches, although it doesn’t just do so from sites you’ve previously visited. Plus, if you make a typo when typing a URL, Chrome will detect it and correct it so you don’t have to type again from the beginning. A very interesting tool to avoid wasting time with those small errors when writing the address of a somewhat strange website. We don’t always write the website we want well and now Chrome is going to make it easier with this new function.
Additionally, if you like to organize your bookmarks into folders, you can now search for them directly from the address bar by typing the name of the folder or bookmark you are looking for. We can have everything even more organized and access it easily. A very practical option to quickly access your favorite folders without having to search for it or remember where it is. Simply type the name in the address bar to access it.
Beyond spelling corrections and help finding your favorite bookmark folders, Google has implemented a suggestion system for the most popular sites. Although we don’t yet know what criteria it uses to determine popular sites, you just have to type something in the address bar and it will automatically offer you several recommended possibilities that the browser thinks you might be interested in.
Finally, you can see how the results of your searches are faster and easier to read. An optimization in the address bar that will help you a lot by showing the results as you type and, according to Google, the address bar panel will now be easier to read.
How to get these updates
If you are interested in what you have read, having the new version is quite simple. You will only have to update your Chrome browser to the latest version to be able to enjoy these improvements that are already in operation and are available for desktop, Android and iOS. But keep in mind that if you have your Chrome configured with automatic updates, you won’t have to do anything. You will now have the latest version available and you will be able to start using these improvements without having to update your Chrome manually.
To find out if there is a version available, just go to the browser and the three points at the top right of the browser and from settings we can see if there is a new and available version that we can install.
