View all percentages together
Use the Batteries widget on your iPhone
There are several ways to view your battery status on your iPhone or iPad. An extra useful place is the so-called Batteries widget. The widget collects the battery percentage of your iPhone, iPad and connected Bluetooth devices. Useful if you want to know how full your Apple Watch or Bluetooth headset is. In this tip we explain how this works.

Check the battery status of external devices with the Batteries widget
You can of course see how full the iPhone battery is in the top right corner of your screen or via the Control Panel. The widget is mainly intended for all other devices that are connected to your iPhone or iPad via Bluetooth. This way you can see how full your Apple Watch is, or if it is charging, and you can also see from your wireless headphones whether it is time to put them on the charger.
You can place the widget on the Today screen or on one of the home screens. You can choose from three sizes: Small, Medium and Large.
Even if no devices are connected to your iPhone or iPad, the widget appears in the overview. You will then see the battery status of your iPhone or iPad.
Devices in the Batteries widget
In summary, the Batteries widget shows the percentage of the following products and accessories:
- iPhone and iPad
- Apple Watch (only on iPhone)
- Apple Pencil (only on iPad)
- AirPods (Pro) (both left and right AirPod and charging case)
- AirPods Max
- Beats headphones
- Apple Smart Battery Case
- MagSafe Battery Pack
- Supporting Bluetooth headsets
On the iPhone (or iPad) you can only see the battery status of the device itself, not the battery status of all kinds of other iDevices that you own. If you want to know this, you can use the Find My app to look up the device and see how full the battery is.
It may happen that your headset or other accessory does not appear in the widget. Not all devices support this function, because you need at least Bluetooth 4 for it. For example, many Beats headphones appear in the overview of the Batteries widget.
This is how you enable the Batteries widget
- Open the widget view by swiping right from the Lock screen or Home screen.
- If the widget isn’t there, scroll down and tap Edit. You can also press and hold an empty spot on the home screen.
- Tap the plus sign to add the widget.
- Look for the Batteries widget or scroll down the list of widgets.
- Choose the widget size you want to add. In the middle and largest widget you also see the exact percentage. With the smallest ones, you only see it if you only have one device (your iPhone or iPad).
The accessories automatically appear in the widget as soon as they are connected via Bluetooth.

iPhone battery on your Apple Watch
Do you want to see the status of your iPhone’s battery on your Apple Watch? Then you will have to download a special app for that. By default, it is not possible to request the battery status of your iPhone on the Apple Watch, not even via Siri. Two apps that can do this are Battery Watcher and Battery Life. If you want even more features, you can also try Phone Buddy for the iPhone and Apple Watch.
