If you are a Digi customer and have compatibility with this network, you must activate it from your mobile phone to start enjoying the advantages it offers. You should always keep in mind that your smartphone is compatible, of course, and that you need to be in an area where this type of coverage is available to be able to enjoy 5G. If all the conditions are met, we must go to the settings to configure it.
If you want to use 5G on the Romanian operator, there are three conditions that must be met: have a contract for any of Digi’s mobile phone products, have a terminal that is compatible with this type of technology (most high-end models currently are or mid-range) and have Digi 5G coverage in the area you are in. If this is true you can enjoy the advantages of this network but first you have to configure your mobile phone and prepare it to connect automatically.
Advantages of having 5G in Digi
Having 5G has many advantages and the technology is now available for Digi users. It offers more speed than 4G (it promises to be up to ten times faster) but also offers lower latency which is ideal for playing online, browsing or using all types of applications. And it gives us a better connection because we can be connected to a network that has more devices connected simultaneously.
In addition, not only do we have many advantages when sailing, but it is more efficient and has less impact on the environment. And Digi users can now use it.
How to activate
When it comes to connecting to 5G we have to have it activated on the phone and the steps are very simple and we can do it from the settings of our smartphone.
From an Android phone
If you have a mobile phone with Android operating system, we can go to the settings to activate 5G. It will depend on the brand and the customization layer that you follow some steps or others, but almost all the options involve going to the configuration and the steps will be similar.
- Go to your Android mobile phone
- Open the configuration and settings section
- Look for the Network and Internet or Connections section
- Choose your SIM card if you have several registered
- Open the options and modes of your card
- Go to “Network Mode”
- Here, search through the settings and choose the section: Preferred network type
We will see that there are several options in a drop-down menu, although it will depend on each mobile phone. Once we are here, look for the section that says “Prefer 5G” or the section that says “5G/4G/3G/2G”. What happens if we choose this and there is no 5G? No problem, you can continue browsing the Internet with other networks but as long as there is availability and coverage for this network you can take advantage of its advantages and benefits.
From an iOS phone
If you have a phone with an Apple operating system, you can also activate 5G from your mobile phone if you go to its configuration and settings. The steps we must take are:
- We open the settings section of our iPhone
- We search and select the “mobile data” option
- Entering that section, we choose “Options2
- From here, go to “Voice and data”
- Select the option: 5G activated or 5G automatic
Once we have followed these steps we can have Internet with 5G on our mobile phone as long as there is coverage and the rest of the requirements are met.
