View all the info WhatsApp has on you
To comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the privacy legislation in Europe, WhatsApp allows users to request the data. Within a few days you will receive a report in which you can download all WhatsApp data.

What data does WhatsApp have about me?
First of all, the report you request from WhatsApp does not contain any chat data. Because all chats are end-to-end encrypted, WhatsApp has no insight into your conversations. When you request your data, you will therefore not receive a complete report of all your chats. If you want to, you can export your WhatsApp chats.
The WhatsApp data report does contain a lot of other information:
- phone number
- Name
- Connection status
- Online since…
- IP address last/current connection
- Device type and model

- Profile picture
- Profile photo upload date
- Phone numbers of WhatsApp contacts (without name)
- Group conversation names

- Blocked numbers
- Read receipts (blue checkmarks)
How can I request my WhatsApp data?
Requesting your WhatsApp data is very easy. Follow these steps:
- Open WhatsApp and open the Settings tab.
- Tap Account.
- Choose Request account information and tap Request report.
A message will now appear on the screen that your request has been sent. Your report will be available approximately three days after applying.
How can I download my WhatsApp data?
To view your WhatsApp data, do the following:
- After the request, you will receive a notification within three days that your report is ready.
- Open WhatsApp and tap Settings > Account > Request account information.
- Now tap on Download Report. At the bottom is indicated until when you can download the report.
- Then choose Export report and again Export report.
- For example, you can save this in the Files app, but you can also send it to a computer as a ZIP file.
The ZIP file called My Account Information consists of two files: access.html and portability.json. Click on access.html to view your data. In a table you see all the information, divided into the headings User information, Terms of service, Registration information and Settings.
