You can mark a WhatsApp message that you want to read again later with a star. In this tip we show how you can mark individual chat messages as favorites and then find them again.

You would like to view some messages you receive via WhatsApp later. But especially in group conversations, such chat messages can quickly disappear from view in the constant stream of messages. That’s why WhatsApp lets you mark messages with a star so you can find them at any time. Marking a star is very easy and so is viewing all marked favorites.

Naturally, you also want to be able to find the marked messages again:

  1. Tap Settings at the bottom right.
  2. At the top of the list you will see starred messages, recognizable by the yellow icon.
  3. Here you’ll see a list of all the messages you’ve ever starred.

By tapping on a highlighted message in this overview, the chat window automatically appears. The highlighted message will then turn dark gray so you can recognize it better.

You can also go to a specific WhatsApp conversation and tap the contact or group name at the top. Via Starred Messages you can see which messages you have marked with a star within this chat.

If you prefer to mark people as favorites in WhatsApp, that is also possible. You can pin certain conversations and people to the top, so that they are always immediately visible when you start the app. To do this, in the chat list view, swipe right and choose Pin.
