If you want to use Siri on the Mac, you can do so quickly by clicking the icon in your dock or menu bar. But if you don’t use Siri, you can easily remove the icons. Then they are no longer in the way. We explain how it works in this tip.

Siri on Mac gives you quick access to all voice functions. To do this, you click on the icon in the dock or menu bar, use a key combination or activate the voice assistant with ‘Hey Siri’ on the Mac. So there are plenty of ways to activate Siri and if you don’t use the icons or Siri at all, you might as well remove them. Here we’ll show you how to remove Siri from your Mac’s dock and menu bar.

Remove Siri from the dock

Removing the Siri icon from the dock is very simple. Hold down the mouse button or right-click the icon and choose Remove from Dock. Or even easier: drag the icon up to remove it from the dock. If you want the Siri icon back, you can drag it from the Apps folder in the Finder back to the dock.

You can also quickly start Siri at the top of the screen, via the menu bar. Siri is the only colored icon in the row, while the others are all in black and grayscale.

You can remove the Siri icon from your Mac menu bar using these steps:

  1. Go to System Preferences/System Settings > Siri.
  2. At the bottom of the screen you will see the option to show Siri in the menu bar. Uncheck the box.

If you want the icon back in the menu bar, simply check the box again.
