With Shazam you can quickly look up the name of a song on your iPhone. In this tip we explain how the app can automatically collect a playlist from the entire evening, so that you know afterwards what you listened to.

At parties and in clubs you often hear new songs of which you would like to know the artist and the name of the song. With the iPhone app Shazam in your pocket, you can collect a playlist from the entire evening. Without you having to do anything for it.

Enable automatic song recognition in Shazam

If you open the app and press and hold the Shazam button, you will enable the Auto Shazam option. A red bar will appear at the top of the screen to indicate that the app will now also listen in the background. You no longer have to press the Shazam button to recognize songs: the app automatically listens to music and immediately notifies you as soon as a song is recognized, even if you don’t have the app active.

All songs that Shazam recognizes end up in the My Shazam section of the app. Here you will find a separate heading called Auto Shazams. If you tap View All here, you will find the list of all songs that have been automatically recognized by Shazam. This list fills itself like a kind of playlist and recognized songs are automatically passed on to you with a push message. You can also listen to the songs directly from there via Apple Music, Spotify or purchase them via iTunes.

Disable Auto Shazam

To turn off Auto Shazam, press and hold the Shazam button again. You can also close the app using the App Switcher to exit Auto Shazam.
