A couple of weeks ago we saw a ‘teaser’ of the new Honda Hawk, the bike destined to replace the CB1100, given that the neo-retro no longer complies with Euro5.

We knew about the Hawk that it would mount the 1,084 cc LC parallel twin from the Africa Twin and the NT1100, with its 102 hp, and that it would mount a semi-fairing with a round headlight, in the style of the Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR. Obviously it is LED and includes perimeter daylight.

A new ‘teaser’ published in Japan shows some more details, and by editing the photos it can be seen that, indeed, the engine is the twin 1100.

A known chassis

The tank is a new invoice and the NT has not been used, nor other elements such as seat or subframe. You can clearly see that the passenger footpegs are higher than on the NT.

Yes, it is the same chassis as the NT1100, in turn mounted on the Africa Twin. The inverted fork seems to be the one that mounts the sport-turismo. We’d bet it’ll use the same Nissin radial calipers as well.

Honda Hawk
The Honda Hawk uses the same frame as the Africa Twin and NT1100, but not the subframe.

The location of the mirrors is curious, although in the first photo they gave the sensation of being mounted on the ends of the handlebar, now it can be seen that this is not the case, but they are located below. Apart from giving it a more retro style (a bit ‘Joe Bar’), they will surely prevent the hands or arms from covering part of the vision.

If there will be a version with a classic transmission and another with the automatic DCT, we would bet that it will. We will clear up doubts within 10 days, when the Osaka Motor Show begins in Japan, where the Honda Hawk will be shown to the public for the first time, specifically on the 19th of this month.
