Within the broad office automation sector corresponding to text editors, Microsoft’s Word is possibly the most popular option. Despite its enormous use, this is an application that is not exempt from specific problems that can directly affect its operation.
Although at first these text editors may appear to be extremely simple programs, in the case that we are discussing in reality, this is not the case, far from it. The open file is incomprehensible
Sometimes we try to open a file with Microsoft’s text editor, but the content displayed on the screen is intelligible. In short, all we see is a string of meaningless characters instead of the text we originally expected. The reasons for this can be two. On the one hand, it is likely that we have confused the file and have opened one that is not compatible with the application as such. In that case we will only have to search for the correct file and try again.
It may also be the case that this file is damaged for whatever reason, so we would have to try again to get it from the original source.
A change in Word settings blocks startup
On the other hand, it may be the case that we have carried out some configuration in the program and from that moment on Word does not open normally. This can be due to some type of incompatibility or failure of the application itself. Obviously here the solution is to undo that change in your configuration, although if the software does not run, it is complicated.
In this case, the best we can do is open Word in safe mode, leaving the CTRL key pressed when clicking on the program icon. It will now be up and running without additional extensions or configuration so we can undo the problematic change. From that moment we can open the application in a conventional way.
Office programs are damaged
It may also be the case that there has been a problem with the Microsoft office suite in general. This means that none of the programs that make it up start up in Windows, which of course affects the Word editor. At this point it is worth knowing that the firm offers us a self-diagnosis tool to solve these problems. We just have to open the Windows Settings application, go to Applications.
In the list of applications that appears, we only have to locate the one corresponding to Office and click on the Modify button. Here we can start the tool to solve the problems of the suite.
