If you follow a lot of people on Instagram, it’s hard to keep track of what your best friends are doing. You can fix this by enabling Instagram notifications for specific people. You will immediately receive a notification as soon as a good friend or your favorite website posts a photo or message.

Instagram: Receive notifications on friends’ posts
On Instagram you can set notifications per person. This is useful, because it allows you to determine for yourself which people are important to you. You set it up like this:
- Go to Instagram and open the person’s profile.
- Tap the bell at the top.
- Select for which type of message you want to receive a notification.
When this person posts a photo or video, you will immediately receive a notification. You will therefore never miss anything from your favorite family members, friends or (if necessary) artists. A message may become unavailable when you tap the notification. Sometimes people spot a mistake in their post and then delete it.

Manage notifications in Instagram
Once you get notifications, you may find that they may not be to your liking, or that you may not receive anything at all. You can adjust them in three places:
You will not receive notifications
Check at Settings > Notifications > Instagram whether notifications are allowed in the iPhone settings.
You are getting too many notifications
In the Instagram app, go to your profile page, tap the three horizontal lines at the top right and open the settings. Then tap Notifications. You can now indicate exactly whether you want a notification from everyone or from people you follow. You can also indicate whether or not you want notifications for likes, comments or new followers.
You no longer want to receive notifications
You can solve this in two ways. If you no longer want to see notifications from a specific person, tap the bell again and switch off the notifications. If you no longer want to receive notifications at all, you can disable them via Settings > Notifications > Instagram.
