Siri can roll virtual dice for you or answer the question “heads or tails?”. The virtual assistant helps you decide.

Siri helps you decide

Siri can help you find information on the internet, read sports scores or enter a reminder. But Siri can also roll dice or flip a coin. We explain how that works below.

  • Roll the dice with Siri
  • Flip a coin with Siri
  • Dice with apps

Roll the dice with Siri

You can make Siri roll a dice with the following commands:

  • “Roll a dice.”
  • “Roll two dice.”

Siri will now roll a virtual dice and read out the result, for example “Three”. This feature is useful if you want to play a game but don’t have any dice to hand. You can also roll two dice with the command: roll two dice. Unfortunately, three or more dice are not possible.

Flip heads or tails with Siri

Siri can also flip a virtual coin for you and thus answer the question ‘heads or tails’? This can be useful if you want to determine who should wash the dishes. You can use these two commands:

  • “Toss a coin.”
  • “Heads or tails.”

Siri then gives the answer “heads” or “tails” and you can get on with your life.

Dice with apps

Siri’s ability to toss a coin is very limited. For example, Siri can only roll two dice, while you may need more.

Third-party apps can sometimes make things easier. For example, take a look at the Just Dice app (in Dutch sloppily translated to ‘Net Dice’), where you can throw six dice in 3D view. You also have a few options, such as choosing the color of the dice and the tablecloth. By touching the screen you can roll the dice and you will also immediately see the accumulated total. You can then leave certain dice and continue throwing the rest.

Other options are:

  • Dice by PCalc (€1.99, iPhone/iPad/Watch/TV + IAP, iOS 14.1+) – Created by the well-known developer of the PCalc calculator app. This app costs money, but can be used on iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, Apple Watch and in iMessage. With photorealistic 3D graphics and various dice, also with different symbols and shapes.
  • Roll The Bones (Free, iPhone, iOS 8.0+) – A somewhat outdated app, the main advantage of which is that it is free. Can be used on iPhone and iPad. Also provides VoiceOver support.

It’s nice that you can roll a dice on the iPhone, but sometimes a real game is more fun. We also have a special guide with the best board games for the iPhone and iPad. Many classics such as Monopoly, Ticket to Ride, Risk, 30 Seconds and much more can be found here.
