Happy Cow

If you want to eat out, you don’t feel like walking endlessly through the city and looking at the menu of every restaurant. The Happycow.net website has the solution for you. You can easily search for vegetarian or vegan restaurants here. They also have an app you can install.

You first indicate whether you are looking for a vegetarian, vegan or vegetarian-friendly restaurant. You can then choose whether you want to look for a restaurant in your immediate area or in another place. You will see all the restaurants on a map or in a list. They have colors that indicate which type of restaurant it is. You can find restaurants all over the world, so it is a handy app to have with you even when you are abroad. You can also search for organic stores in this app. HappyCow contains many more useful functions, so it is highly recommended.

ProVeg Veggie Challenge

Take part in the Veggie Challenge: choose less meat for 30 days, vegetarian for 30 days or vegan for 30 days. Made by a Dutch foundation that aims to accelerate the transition to a plant-based diet. The ProVeg app shows you how to eat without meat and includes daily tips and rewards, hundreds of recipes, free coaching and a community to help you through the tough moments. With this app you can put together a weekly menu, test your knowledge and view the impact of your nutritional habits. Costs nothing at all.

Forks

Forks contains more than 600 recipes using only plant-based ingredients, created by more than 50 chefs. New recipes are added every week. You can search for recipes, save them and add ingredients to a shopping list. The app works in English and is mainly intended for American vegans. It may therefore happen that some ingredients are not easily available in the Netherlands. In addition to recipes, you will also find tips for a vegan lifestyle.

GreenKitchen

Eat more green! This app is intended for people who want to eat more vegetables, but also for people who are already full-time vegetarians. You will find all kinds of natural foods with a minimum of gluten, sugar and dairy. The recipes are creative and accompanied by beautiful photos. You can easily recreate them and then enjoy! It contains 159 recipes, plus another 28 as an in-app purchase. There is a separate app for desserts.

Oh She Glows

Just looking at the photos in this app will make your mouth water. The recipes in this app are all vegan, meaning they do not contain animal products such as milk and eggs. Just like in most recipe apps, you can also save your favorite recipes here so you can easily find them again. The app is easy to use while cooking. It remains active in cooking mode. So you don’t have to worry about dirty fingers on your iPhone or iPad.

Soosee

Of course you know that a banana or apple contains no animal products. But it is often more difficult to estimate products that come from a jar or can. Then the Soosee app comes in handy. This allows you to easily check whether products are vegan. All you have to do is scan the label and the app will show whether the product is suitable. It will also indicate which ingredients are vegan and which are not. You can also get along abroad, because the app speaks almost 20 languages.

Vegan Vibes

The Vegan Vibes app has the same name as the book by dietician Lisa Steltenpool. Naturally, the app contains all kinds of original recipes for breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert. You will also find all kinds of tips and articles about vegan food. You can try Vegan Vibes for free, but with a subscription you get the most out of it. It costs less than ten euros per year.

Vegourmet

Vegourmet is a Swedish food magazine with vegan recipes. The best 230 from the magazine are in this app, divided into categories such as starters, street food, main courses, soups, drinks and desserts. The accompanying Apple Watch app serves as a kitchen timer. Vegourmet’s recipes have beautiful photos and are influenced by countries such as Spain, Thailand, Italy, Japan and Latin America. You will learn to cook with different vegan ingredients.

Krautkopf

In the Krautkopf app you will find a mix of vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free and dairy-free recipes. They are easy to make and have beautiful photos. Krautkopf is a food blog created by cookbook authors and photographers Susann and Yannic from Berlin. The recipes are inspired by farmers markets, with an emphasis on seasonal produce.
