Largely thanks to the Internet, today we have a multitude of methods for sharing files at our fingertips. There is no need to carry around with CDs, DVDs or USB sticks to send or receive large amounts of files. Thanks to platforms like WeTransfer, which I will tell you about now, all that is part of the past.

Surely many of you are fully aware that sending and receiving all types of files over the Internet is something that has become common. We have multiple methods such as email, messaging applications or even cloud storage services. At the same time, there are developers who offer us very interesting projects to share all kinds of information online.

Here we refer to elements such as text documents, reports of all kinds, PDF files, videos, photos and more. We may even find ourselves faced with the situation that we need to share an ISO image in some way, a file that is usually quite voluminous. The same thing happens if we need to send a good amount of content directly over the Internet. There, email stops being as effective as we would like at first, but we have platforms like the aforementioned WeTransfer that have become essential in my daily life with the PC.

What is WeTransfer and why do I use it so much?

To begin with, I will tell you that it is a useful service that we can use from our WeTransfer web browser and that it has a free option. All of this allows you to share all types of files, although it focuses on large content, quickly and agilely. In addition to the functionality that this platform offers us, the simplicity of its main interface makes it valid for all types of users, even if you are new to these issues.

WeTransfer interface

It is an ideal online platform for sending large files to third parties, which, for example, we cannot attach by email. It is important to know that this shipment does not affect the performance of our computer or the hard drive in any way. The main reason for all this is that WeTransfer temporarily hosts the files on its servers while the transfer takes place.

One of the main advantages we found is that we do not need technical knowledge to benefit from the advantages of sharing files through this web application.

How do I use the platform to send large files?

I have already told you that its use is extremely simple, and after accessing the website mentioned above, all we have to do is click on the button that is represented by a + sign. Here we will have the possibility of selecting the files or directly a folder, which corresponds to the contents we want to transfer. In addition, we have the possibility of establishing both the destination and origin email.

At the same time, we will additionally have the possibility of establishing a deadline for downloading these contents, or adding a password. These are some of the security measures used by WeTransfer. Once we have configured everything we mentioned, all we have to do is click on the Transfer button so that the recipient receives an email with the download link. We must keep in mind that we have the possibility of sending these contents for free to a maximum of 10 people and they cannot exceed 2 GB.

WeTransfer payment plans

Of course, in certain circumstances the situation may arise where we need to exceed these limits. Precisely for this, the online platform offers us some additional payment plans to the free one that we mentioned above.

In this way we can subscribe to the Pro mode for a payment of 10 euros per month so that the size of the content to be sent or received increases up to 200 GB. And if we do not want to have limits when sending and receiving content, we can pay for the premium subscription which has a price of 19 euros per month. Personally, the free option works for me in most cases.
