Since the fourth generation, the Apple TV has been supplied with a Siri Remote, equipped with a Lightning or USB-C port for charging. The rechargeable battery in the remote control lasts a very long time, but at some point you will have to recharge it. Via the Apple TV you can easily see how full the battery of the Siri Remote is. The battery status of connected game controllers is also easy to find out. In this tip we explain how you can see this.
- Through Siri
- Via Settings
Request battery status from Siri Remote with Siri
The fastest way to get the battery level of your Apple TV Remote is to simply ask Siri. Press and hold the Siri button and ask for the battery status. Release the button when you’re done talking.
Once you give the command, the Settings app will open showing a symbol of your battery status. Click on it to see the exact percentage.
Check Apple TV Remote battery status
The battery status of the Siri Remote can also be found by going to the Apple TV settings yourself. To do this, follow these steps:
- Go to the Settings.
- Go to Remotes and devices.
- Under the heading Remote control you will see a button with the same name. A symbol shows you approximately how much power the remote control has left.
- Now select the Remote Control option. You will then see the precise battery level in percentages.
- If you want to view the battery status of other devices, select the Bluetooth button under the Other devices heading.
According to Apple, you need to charge the battery of the Siri Remote “a few times a year” with normal use, but in practice this is probably once a year or less. You can charge the remote control via the computer or via a regular plug, with the included Lightning cable.
