Surely many of you have already seen first-hand that lately a multitude of malicious actors use the Treasury to try to scam us. This means that they impersonate the Tax Agency to obtain certain personal data, something that we must avoid at all costs.

In these times, there are many ways that these attackers use to try to deceive us in one way or another. We are talking about such common uses as email, instant messaging applications, or SMS that reach us on our mobile phones. Hence we have to be more vigilant than ever to try not to fall into the trap.

Apart from the Tax Agency, these attackers also use other official entities such as the General Directorate of Traffic or Social Security to launch their scams. In this case we are going to focus on the scam attempts, certainly increasingly common, that come from certain attackers posing as the Treasury. The Spanish official body is fully aware of all this and now wants to find a solution to avoid these attempts at deception.

These are the scams that impersonate the Treasury

It should be noted that these campaigns that impersonate the Tax Agency have multiplied over recent years. This means that there are many citizens in this country who continue to fall into the trap. All this despite the notices and warnings that are published in a multitude of media.

For those of you who do not know, say that in most cases this type of scam in particular usually reaches us through email. Especially during the Income Tax campaign of that year, we may receive emails supposedly from the Tax Agency requesting certain personal data. Specifically, these scams arrive in the form of notifications to make payments or receive charges from this official body.

As you can imagine, all of this is false, and what the attackers are trying to do is get hold of our personal data and our money. It must be taken into account that this entity will never request personal or authentication data from us via email. If we receive a message of these characteristics to our email, we should immediately be suspicious.

This is how the Tax Agency helps us now

In order to avoid, as far as possible, these frauds and scams in your name, the Tax Agency has just enabled a new help tool. Basically, it is a new function added to its official website, where we can take a first-hand look at the latest accesses to our user here.

Whether using a digital certificate, the electronic DNI, or the Cl@ve method, the Treasury website will indicate the last accesses to our user. In addition, it informs us of the method used, so if we find something that is not familiar to us we should inform the Agency itself. At the same time we should change passwords immediately, everything from your website.
