Current Netflix subscribers will be charged at the new price starting in November, on the day their billing cycle is renewed. This has been notified by the streaming platform in the emails with which it is notifying its clients, in which it also explains its reasons for the increase.

After learning that Netflix was going to soon formalize a price increase in several European countries, such as Spain and Italy, its subscribers are now beginning to receive email notifications explaining when the increase will reach them.

New subscribers have been having to accept the new prices no matter what since last week, but for existing subscribers, the increase will occur in November, just when each one’s new billing period begins.

This way, if, for example, you signed up for Netflix on the 22nd, you will start paying the updated price on November 22nd. A price that will be between 1 and 2 euros more expensive than before: the standard with ads goes up 1.5 euros to €6.99, the standard without ads goes up 1 euro to €13.99, and the premium goes up 2 euros to stay at €19.99.

“We have what you are looking for”

Furthermore, in the email Netflix briefly explains why they see it necessary to raise prices, although it is a reason that the company has been justifying for some time.

«We hope you are enjoying everything Netflix has to offer. We want to inform you that we are going to change the price of the Premium plan to €19.99 on November xx, 2024. You will always find the ideal title for each moment. Next month alone we are going to release more than 50 series and movies. Whether you want to see your old favorites again or prefer something new, we have what you are looking for,” says the email received by a subscriber.

Netflix on a laptop

That is to say, Netflix hides behind the large number of new films and series that it brings to the platform, as well as its original productions that it continues to carry out around the world. Netflix seeks constant novelty through a calendar that tries to load with new content every month, and therefore, the company justifies a need for greater profit to finance its catalog.

In addition, they are aware that some of their series are big stars on the streaming scene, and that is why they trust that their subscribers will be loyal. They are very sure to have “your all-time favorites.” Next December, for example, The Squid Game returns for season 2.

Record numbers

However, this need to increase margins contrasts with the fact that, in fact, Netflix has had a season worthy of celebration. Between the months of July and September, in its third quarter the company invoiced up to 9,825 million dollars. That is, 15% more than the same period of the previous year, and in addition, its subscribers also increased.

Knowing this, we see that everything seems to be going smoothly for the audiovisual company, so beyond the investments it has to make to obtain new content, this rise is not at all motivated by poor results that justify having to tighten the belt. .
