Not all Valencian citizens will benefit from this measure, but it is one of the first Treasury measures after everything that happened with DANA in Valencia. This is a deferral in the collection of the second personal income tax payment that corresponds to the 2023 Income. Therefore, those taxpayers who decided to pay in two installments and are affected will not have to face this payment.
This second installment to pay the second installment of last year’s personal income tax began to be collected on November 5. However, the Treasury announced this measure to postpone this collection for citizens affected by DANA. In addition, there is still no fixed date from the ministry for when taxpayers will be charged. But, for now, it is one of the first tax relief measures that has been proposed by the Ministry of Finance, headed by MarÃa Jesús Montero.
No collection date for those affected
The Ministry of Finance announced a postponement for the second payment of Personal Income Tax 2023 that will serve as tax relief for those affected. However, it must be taken into account that not all Valencian citizens will benefit from this measure. More than anything, because not all taxpayers decide to defer the collection of Personal Income Tax in two annual payments.
This suspension will be included in a decree in which it will be established that charges will not have to be made to Valencia taxpayers who decided to make the payment in two installments. According to Treasury data, it will help 200,000 people, that is, less than 10% of affected citizens.
Therefore, if the taxpayer affected by the DANA had to pay in the 2023 income tax return and decided to pay the amount in two installments, for the moment he will not have to assume this charge. And, as the Ministry clarifies, there is still no date chosen for those affected to have to pay this amount.
What if they have already charged you?
Although, it is true that many citizens have seen how their banks have managed to collect the second installment of personal income tax. However, it has been confirmed that banking entities that have already collected it will have to return the money to taxpayers, although the deadline has not been estimated, but it is expected to be as quickly as possible.
Furthermore, for all those who still have doubts in this regard, the Tax Agency delegation in the Valencian Community will have a service point for affected tax professionals. And, on the other hand, you will have a telephone number and email available to expedite direct contact with the agency.
And it must be taken into account that this is one of the different fiscal measures by the Treasury that the Government of Spain is preparing to face one of the worst natural disasters that have occurred during this century in the country.
