Although there is less than a year until Windows 10 stops receiving updates and reaches the end of its official support, Microsoft continues to remember its users. This translates into some updates that we receive even in 2024, as happened with KB5048239.

One of the main objectives of the software giant is for the majority of users to migrate to Windows 11 as soon as possible. This is something that will become almost mandatory when Windows 10 reaches the end of its useful life next October 2025. But despite this, the software giant continues to update the old version of the system, to the joy of the majority. .

However, in certain circumstances, errors with updates here also continue to occur. The situation in which many find themselves right now after updating Windows 10 with the aforementioned KB5048239 serves as a clear example. And on some computers this is a cumulative update that is causing important and serious problems. Among them, most encounter error 0x80070643.

It must be taken into account that this is an addition that arrived just a few days ago corresponding to Update Tuesday in November 2024. The company launched its corresponding updates for Windows 11, as has been usual month after month. However, in this case there was also one of those occasions in which updates for Windows 10 have also been released.

The problem here has occurred with one of these, KB5048239 that we mentioned before. And since its arrival, many users have expressed their dissatisfaction due to the problems they are encountering after its installation.

How to fix the error with the Windows 10 update

In fact, in this case we can affirm that it is a quite important failure and that it has already occurred in other similar cases in the past. Hence, many users are already familiar with this error when trying to update their operating system. To give you a rough idea of what we are talking about, these failures are the result of insufficient space in the Windows Recovery partition. This requires a minimum of 250 MB and Microsoft is very aware of all this.

Hence the solution it offers us. And it tries to make it clear that this update requires that amount of free space on the recovery partition to install correctly. Otherwise, serious problems could arise, as is happening now.

Therefore, as the company notifies us, if we want to ensure that our computer receives this update without problems, what we must do is manually resize the recovery partition of the PC. With all this, what we are trying to achieve is to increase its size so that, at a minimum, it has the 250 MB mentioned above.

Once your partition has enough disk space, all you have to do is go to the Windows Update section of the Windows Settings application. By clicking on Check for updates, the new update will be offered again so that we can install it without problems.
