When it comes to communicating with our friends and family immediately, we have a multitude of platforms at our fingertips where WhatsApp is the undisputed leader. Here we have several modalities to carry out these tasks.

Initially these online applications were designed to communicate through text messages. But as technology has advanced and connections have become more powerful and stable, communication channels have adapted to the current times. For example, now in WhatsApp we have the possibility of establishing contact with our friends through video conferencing, voice calls or through audio messages.

In fact, it is in this last modality that we want to focus on these same lines. And surely many of you have already seen first-hand on more than one occasion that sending a voice message makes the connection with friends and family even more personal than, for example, through chat. In addition, communications with this method are carried out in a more fluid and faster way, without having to pay attention to the screen at all times.

And for many regular customers of this messaging application, listening to the voice of their loved ones while they have a conversation is better than reading a text. Of course, despite all the advantages that this modality that we mentioned offers us, we also find some quite obvious disadvantages. And sometimes, when using voice messages on WhatsApp, we do not always have the possibility of listening to it at that moment.

Activate transcription of voice messages in WhatsApp

That is precisely where the function that has just been integrated comes into play and allows the transcription of those voice messages. And on many occasions, when we receive these messages, we are on the move or in a noisy place where they cannot be heard well. It may also happen that we have simply received a voice message that is too long and we cannot stop and listen to it.

whatsapp transcripts

That is where the transcriptions of the voice messages to which we refer will be extremely useful to us. To give you a better idea, with this new function, voice messages can be transcribed or converted to text immediately. All of this in order to help us follow the conversations we are having on WhatsApp no matter what we are doing at that moment.

It is also important to keep in mind that the transcripts are generated on the device and thus no one else, not even the WhatsApp platform itself, can listen to or read your personal messages. To start this function we will have to go to the menu option Settings / Chats / Voice message transcriptions.

This selector will allow us to easily activate or deactivate the new functionality and we will also have the possibility of selecting the language of the transcription as such. To transcribe a voice message that we have received once we activate the feature, we hold down the message and click on transcribe.

Right now, the only thing we have to keep in mind is that they haven’t reached everyone yet. Transcripts will be available to everyone over the next few weeks and in some languages. Those responsible for WhatsApp assure that they plan to add more languages in the coming months.
