When hiring a new company there are certain aspects that we must take into account to choose who we want to make the contract with. There are certain things that will move the balance towards one or the other, but one of the fundamental factors is knowing which mobile operator has the best coverage in our area, our neighborhood, our street. And so you can know.
Although generally we will not have a problem when hiring one operator or another if we live in a large city with sufficient coverage, it is convenient to make sure that we will be able to navigate and use our phone without any problem regardless of the operator we contract. But we can see the coverage of each operator on a map, the coverage of the different companies.
Check coverage
The great advantage of the map that we find in NPERF is that we can filter by operator to see it on a single map without having to change websites. You can use the drop-down at the top to choose between MasMóvil, Movistar, Orange or Vodafone and we will automatically see the colors over the entire national territory to know in which areas there is coverage and in which areas there is not.
The map It has a legend that shows us with colors the type of technology that is in that area… The areas that have a maximum of 2G will appear in blue, the areas that have a maximum of 3G will appear in green, the areas that have a maximum of 4G will appear in orange, and the areas that have a maximum of 2G will appear in red. have 4G+ coverage and in purple the areas that have 5G.
You should always keep in mind that even if your street or your neighborhood appears in purple because it is compatible with 5G, it does not imply that you are going to have this technology because it will depend on the contracted operator (a Vodafone MVNO is not the same as Vodafone, for example) and it will depend whether your mobile phone is compatible with this technology or not. But it will help you to get an idea of what is there.
Consult the coverage by operators
If you simply want to check the coverage of a specific operator, you can do it from its website and we can filter by the type of network or coverage that we want. In other words, we can see if you have 3G, 4G or 5G coverage depending on the neighborhood, the area of the city you want or even on your street. All operators allow us to consult this from their website beyond the general map that we have shown in previous paragraphs.
Basically what we will do is access the maps separately but the purpose is the same depending on whether you want Orange, Movistar, Vodafone…. You will see colors that indicate what type of network we can access from our street as long as we meet the minimum specifications on our smartphone. Depending on the operator’s map, you will see some colors or others and we can zoom in to get more details. For example, Orange allows us to click on a specific street and it will tell us if there is good coverage or not, what it allows us and what it doesn’t.
In addition, as we have said in previous paragraphs, it will depend on the OMV that you have contracted whether this is exactly the case because Orange may have 5G coverage but it may not be available to all operators that use the French operator’s network, only to some.
