Microsoft is hard at work on the next big Windows 11 update. After releasing the two “Moment” updates for 22H2, and having the third one pretty much ready, the company has announced a massive change to the Insider branch to start with the next big ones. changes to the Windows 11 kernel. These changes will be reflected in the 23H2 of the operating system, which will see the light of day later this year. But we won’t have to wait that long to find out about its first news.

It is not news that Microsoft works on two operating systems at the same time. On the one hand we have Windows 11, the current OS that wants to succeed Windows 10, although it is costing it more than necessary, and on the other hand we have what will be the next system that we still don’t know much about (or rather, nothing). ) and, we speculate, it should be called Windows 12.

However, the latest Windows 11 Insider builds hide within them a series of changes, or clues, that give us an idea of what Microsoft is working on.

Cloud PC, the cloud more present than ever

We have already seen how Microsoft is working on its operating system in the cloud. And whether we like it or not, Windows as a Service will be a reality sooner or later. Right now we already have Windows 365, a Windows service specially designed so that companies can work with dummy terminals and connect to their infrastructure from anywhere.

Now Cloud PC comes to Windows 11 natively. We can see that now the new Microsoft OS allows us to choose if we want to be able to access PC applications in the cloud from the Alt + Tab keyboard shortcut. In this way, we can always have our programs and documents at hand thanks to Azure and Windows 365, depending only on a PC with Windows 11. In future updates we will see how the connection to this cloud becomes easier, and a new interface.

Bug fix improvements

Another novelty that we find in these Windows 11 leaks is a new error repair system. When the system finds an error, and a solution, it will give us the possibility to completely reinstall Windows 11 to solve it, keeping our data, programs and settings. It is an improved version of the system integrity check that will take care of downloading a Windows 11 image and installing it on the PC to recover it. We only need to have the PC turned on and connected to the Internet.

The difference with the current option to reinstall Windows is that the new function allows us to reinstall the current version of the OS, not to update forcibly.

USB 4.0 in Windows 11

In addition to all of the above, another of the most interesting novelties that we find in the operating system is the arrival of support for USB4 hubs and devices. There are still no PCs or devices that support it, since it is a standard that, although approved, has yet to be developed and implemented. But, if we later buy a board, or PCIe card, with support for this new connection standard, we can rest easy: Windows 11 is ready.
