Recommending Evangelion is not easy in view of the way in which Gainax has been complicating viewing over time. But it’s interesting that even with this context, we have to acknowledge that it’s still one of the best anime of all time. The original series is available on Netflix and it is not wasted, since with 26 episodes it marks you in a way that you will not be able to imagine until you see it. We can also tell you that it would not be unusual for you to see any of the chapters twice. The script has such crazy parts that you’ll need two viewings to get your bearings!
In Evangelion, a group of young people use EVA robots to confront the angels that are trying to destroy the world. The situation on the planet is not exactly easy because, 15 years before, the Second Impact, a global catastrophe, occurred. Robot combats are combined with the daily life of students and the personal stories of a group of characters that is already historical. When you enter the wormhole of this universe, you will not be able to get out.
Violet Evergarden
As you will see, our list of recommendations includes anime series that have left their mark over time and that, in general, are not exactly very recent. But we also do not want to leave out the great successes of recent years. That is why we recommend the emotional Violet Evergarden, one of the most emotional productions that can be seen within its genre.
It is not a war story per se, but it is developed within a framework that does reflect a conflict. The protagonist is a girl who was used as a weapon in the war and who is now trying to reintegrate into society, although she lacks the ability to socialize and understand feelings. Naruto and One Piece
We have decided to unite them in this section because they may not need as much presentation as the other series and they compete within the same category. It is about two of the most important shonen of all time, two stories of combat, action and adventure.
In One Piece you will follow the adventures of Luffy and the Straw Hat crew as they travel the seas, face villains and try to find treasure. For his part, in Naruto you will meet the young ninja protagonist, who starts from the bottom until he becomes a legend. They are two different styles, but they share many of the fundamental ingredients of the genre. We would also be recommending Dragon Ball, because together they form the holy trinity of shonen anime, but nowadays watching Akira Toriyama’s series in Spain is not easy.

This is one of those anime that will make your head explode. We don’t want to tell you too much about the series because there are 24 episodes that are worth enjoying (plus two extras that are also on Netflix). The plot is located in the famous Akihabara neighborhood in Tokyo, where a mad scientist who is very interested in time travel manages to invent a tool with which to send messages to the past. Not only that, but he will also travel through time.
Steins;Gate has succeeded in all the fields in which it has had a presence, be it in the form of a video game, novel or anime. And it is one of those stories that does not lose level in any of the adaptations. If you like brainy stories with surprises, you’ll love it.
Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting!
We have not chosen many sports series for this list, also partly because Spain is not giving much support to this type of production. But we couldn’t resist recommending Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting, a boxing anime that has it all.
The original manga is legendary. The series introduces the young Ippo, who is bullied by his classmates and, after an encounter with a famous boxer, ends up starting training. What you like is music? You should know that there are many animes in which the songs have extreme importance. The best example of this, which has become an icon for a generation of otakus, is Love Live! And finally, we are going to recommend that you get carried away by the crazy battles that take place at the Kakegurui institute, where the long-suffering protagonist will meet some of the most evil minds you can imagine. Due to its crazy characters, the dynamics of battles with stakes involved and the twists that the series has, it was one of the surprises of a few years ago. In addition, the premiere of its sequels has helped it end up becoming a very important brand.
