Millions of users around the world have been enjoying the latest version of Microsoft’s operating system for months, we are referring to Windows 11. This is software that has as many supporters as it does not, so the software giant does not stop trying to improve it.
In fact, one of the main goals that has been set for the coming months is for the majority of users of previous versions of Windows to migrate here. However, there are certain sections that still have a lot to improve, for which the company continues to work. A clear example of all this is that when Microsoft launched Windows 11, it drastically changed the Start Menu of the system. Gone are the application folders, groups and other functions.
Mainly due to these changes that we are talking about, many users were against the new Start menu, considering it practically useless. In order to improve this important element, Microsoft shortly after added a Recommended section, something that even worsened the operation and use of this section. What’s more, to this day we don’t have the possibility to get rid of this novelty to make room for more app icons.
Such is the little acceptance that the Windows 11 Start menu has, that some employees of the firm criticized Microsoft itself for this section. To improve all this, the company launched certain improvements for the Start menu in the 22H2 version of the system. Thus, the company returned to support folders here. This allows us to organize multiple icons in a single location for faster and more organized access.

Also, the new version of Windows 11 introduced layouts to the Start menu, but these still did not allow the complete removal of the Recommended section. But things got a bit worse after Microsoft started experimenting with highlighting websites in the mentioned section. Even sites that the user had never visited before appeared here. Later, Microsoft began to display ads in this section, the Start menu, which for many made things even worse.
However, now the software giant is trying to turn things around. Specifically, a user of the social network Twitter has revealed a new change in the Recommended section that Microsoft is working on right now. Thus, the users of the Insider program will be able to hover over these icons to obtain information about the files on the PC and also see thumbnails.

Files shown as recommended items show the file name and last modified date, by default in Windows 11. Users can hover over the file to see its path. This is a new feature that is being tested in preview builds of Windows 11. At the moment the new feature is only valid for some types of files, especially images.
With everything and with this it is likely that other types will also be supported later to see thumbnails or previews of your content.
