Social networks and messaging applications are our daily plan. Millions of people around the world use these platforms to communicate with their contacts and stay informed about what they like most.
However, by default, they all violate our privacy by showing when we last connected to the application. But, also, in the case of social networks, our privacy could be said to not exist since both Facebook and Instagram and to a lesser extent Twitter, use the data they obtain from our use of them to show certain content in addition to ads to people. .
If we want to continue using them, we have no choice but to transfer our data, however, we can hide the public information showing the last time we logged in easily and quickly by following the steps we show you below.
How to hide the date of the last connection
For practical purposes, following the steps we show you below, we are only going to hide the date from the people with whom we have contact since this information will continue to be available on the servers of these companies.
The first thing we must keep in mind before hiding the date of our last connection is that this also applies to us, that is, once we have activated this function, we will not be able to know when was the last time other people used the platform.
This function is found within the application settings, in the Account > Privacy > Last time section. once and online. Within this section, we have three options: Everyone, My contacts or Nobody. This is the option that we must set by default if we do not want anyone other than us to know when we last used the application.
We can also modify who can see if I am online using the same settings as the previous option or so that everyone can know if I am online at that moment.
Within the Instagram configuration options, we can also prevent anyone other than us from knowing when the last time we used the application or when you are using it. Unlike WhatsApp, which offers this function independently, on Instagram both are grouped together.
To stop showing our activity on Instagram, we must access the configuration options and access the How others can interact with you section. Within this section, in the Activity Status section we must uncheck the Show Activity Status switch.
Messenger
Facebook’s messaging platform, Messenger, also allows us to hide the status of the last time we used the application. In addition, it allows us to establish who can and cannot know among our contacts the last time we connected to the application or if we are connected at that moment.
This option is found by clicking on the image that represents our avatar, within the Preferences section. In the next window, click on “Active” Status: ON and then uncheck the “Active” Status: ON switch. We can also customize which friends we want to show our status to at all times and which friends we want to hide it from.
Telegram
With more than 800 million active users, Telegram has become the only messaging platform that has managed to stand up to WhatsApp. This application is characterized by offering a large number of functions, including one that allows us to hide our last connection.
This option is found in Settings, in the Privacy and security > Last time and online section. Within this section we have 3 options: Everyone, My contacts or Nobody, this last option being the one we must choose. If we want to set exceptions, we can do so in the Add Exceptions section.
