The company Starlink, the satellite Internet service, is making strides to evolve its technology and offer an alternative mobile coverage to which we are traditionally accustomed. Now, the company has just announced that it is already testing the launch of the first text messages to mobile phones. After this feat, the potential of using telephone services through satellite connection is consolidated.

It seems that very soon we will have at our disposal another way to connect our mobile phones to the network through satellite services provided by multinationals such as Starlink, owner of Elon Musk, which will guarantee the most stable Internet connectivity possible anywhere in the world. during the next few months.

Although you can now contract Starlink Internet, assuming a fairly high outlay since it requires specific equipment, the company assures that the implementation of its antennas in orbit will allow users to dispense with the installation of these accessories in their homes, in such a way that they will be able to use their mobile phones with complete freedom, as if it were the natural signal that teleoperators emit.

First satellite text messages

Starlink has been in charge of sending SMS to mobile phones through its own satellites, using a spectrum called T-Mobile US, a week after these rockets were launched into space integrating satellite coverage. Likewise, the company led by the controversial Elon Musk has already begun to implement its stipulated plans for testing text messaging scheduled in 2024 and for voice and IoT services starting in 2025, giving rise to one of the greatest technological milestones in the world of telecommunications.

However, Starlink has reported that carrying out this feat has not been an easy task, as they have had to overcome several technical and regulatory challenges to implement sending SMS to unmodified mobile phones. To do this, it has had to launch some chips and antennas that are inserted into the Starlink v2mini satellites launched by Falcon 9 rockets and produce enough coverage radiation in space to land on electronic devices on the ground, such as in this case the mobiles.

How Starlink Internet Service Will Work

Starlink already has on the table how to provide all its clients with mobile satellite coverage and it is, neither more nor less, than through the standard wireless communication technology LTE (Long Term Evolution). According to the company, thanks to the orbital placement of the first six Direct to Cell satellites, users can have ubiquitous access to text messages, calls and navigation wherever land, lakes or coastal waters are located.

Finally, Starlink has highlighted that its technology will be shared with operators around the world, such as in this case T-Mobile US, as long as they are willing to become partners of this revolutionary technology. For now, in Spain, Starlink has already begun to have some contact with Movistar, but the exact date of the launch of the new era of digital connectivity for mobile phones is still unknown.
