Here’s how to watch music videos in Apple Music

Your own music library is probably full of songs that you can sing along to. But do you also know all the accompanying video clips of these songs? Music videos often show more of a song, such as the meaning behind it and the story surrounding it. There are also music videos that are so bizarre that you would never have thought of them yourself. In this tip, we’ll show you how to watch music videos on all your devices in Apple Music, so you can see your favorite artist in action while listening to a song.

How can I search for music videos in Apple Music?

Discovering music videos in Apple Music is very easy. The method differs slightly per device:

Apple Music music videos on iPhone and iPad

1. Open the Music app.
2. Tap the Discover tab.
3. Scroll all the way down and tap Music Videos.
4. On this page you will find the latest music videos, but also video clips based on genre or a specific artist, interviews and much more.

Are you looking for the video clip of a specific song? Tap Search and enter the song name. Scroll down to the Music Videos heading and you will see one or more music videos by the artist in question.

The video appears quite small. If you want to see a larger image, turn your iPhone a quarter turn to landscape view.

Apple Music music videos on Mac and PC

1. Open the Music app (or iTunes, if you have a Windows PC or older macOS version).
2. At the top left, choose Discover and scroll all the way down.
3. Choose Music Videos for the featured video clips page.
4. Use the search function to search for a specific clip.

Apple Music music videos on the Apple TV

1. Open the Music app.
2. Swipe the Siri Remote to the Discover heading.
3. From the Discover tab menu, choose Music Videos.
4. Use the search function and enter the number. Then choose one of the suggestions that comes closest to your search term. Then scroll down to Music Videos.

How do I watch video clips in Apple Music?

After you find your clip, choose it to play it. The clip plays quite small on the iPhone. By turning a quarter turn you will see a larger view in landscape view. During playback you have almost the same options as with a normal video. You can pause, fast forward and zoom in by tapping the screen twice. You also often see song lyrics on screen, so you can sing along. Furthermore, you can watch the video picture-in-picture on iPhone, so you can do something else in the meantime.

Another popular place to watch video clips is on a TV screen. On Apple TV, you can fast forward by pausing the video and swiping the touchpad. Unfortunately you cannot fast forward or rewind ten seconds. If you don’t have an Apple TV, you can also forward the video from your iPhone or iPad with AirPlay to a suitable screen such as a smart TV with built-in AirPlay function.

How do I add an Apple Music video clip to my library?

Just like regular songs, you can also add all music videos to your own library. This way you can create your own collection of video clips. The addition goes as follows:

Save video clips to iPhone and iPad

1. Find the video clip you want to add according to the steps above.
2. Press and hold your finger on the video clip before tapping and playing it.
3. Choose Add to library.
4. To view the video clip, tap Library in the tab bar.
5. If necessary, tap Edit and check Music Videos.
6. Choose Done and select Music Videos to view all your added video clips.

Save video clips to Mac and PC

1. Find the video clip you want to add according to the steps above.
2. Click on the video clip.
3. Now click Add to add it to your library.
4. To view added clips, go to Library.
5. In the side menu on the left, choose Music Videos. If you don’t see this, right-click and choose Edit List. Then add the option for video clips.

Save video clips to Apple TV

1. Find the video clip you want to add according to the steps above.
2. Now press and hold the touchpad while selecting the video clip.
3. Choose Add to library.

How do I create a playlist of video clips?

In addition to the option to add video clips to your own library, you can also create a playlist in the same way. This way you can, as it were, create your own music channel. For example, you can play the playlists on your television, after which all clips will be started one after the other.

You can also add pre-made playlists to your library via the Discover > Music Videos section. You will find all added playlists of video clips in the overview at Library > Playlists.
