The different video streaming platforms that we can enjoy right now do not stop evolving. This refers to its contents and functions, which is why its acceptance is rapidly growing. We have the case of HBO Max, which is going to undergo an important change shortly that will affect all users.
Recently, we told you that the platform is going to take a crucial turn in the next month. Specifically, on May 21 the platform itself will be renamed Max. In addition, it will unify the current content that you enjoy with that of Discovery. This means that although it is not a new video streaming service, it is very close.
It is true that in principle we want to maintain the appearance and functioning of the different official applications, although with a considerable increase in content. In addition, its top managers want to give quite significant importance to live sporting events. To do this, we can subscribe to an additional modality that, for example, will broadcast the next Olympic Games in Paris 2024.
Prices and subscriptions will also suffer some variations, as we will see now. And hence one of the big doubts that have arisen over the last few weeks. Surely after the initial launch of the platform in our country, many of you will benefit from the introductory offer that was made available to us. Specifically, we are referring to a 50% discount forever on the price of said subscription. That is why many have now wondered if this payment reduced by half will be maintained.
Well, for all of you who have recently asked yourself this question, the answer is affirmative, it will remain. But there will be some important changes that most people will probably not like in this regard.
What will happen to the 50% offer at Max
And in addition to the sports add-on, the new Max platform will offer us two subscription types: Standard and Premium. For those interested, this is how the platform prices will look starting next May 21.
- Standard plan. Content on 2 devices simultaneously, Full HD resolution and up to 30 downloads to view offline at a price of 9.99 euros per month.
- Premium Plan. View content on up to 4 devices simultaneously in 4K resolution and up to 100 downloads. All this at a price of 13.99 euros per month.
- Sports Complement. This addition will offer coverage for the main sporting events for 5 euros more per month.
As we told you before, the problem is now that the 50% offer is applied to the Standard plan. This means that we will go from being able to view content on up to 3 devices, as until now, to only 2. Likewise, the maximum resolution at which we will be able to view content will be Full HD, instead of 4K that we enjoyed until now.
Basically, this means that those who enjoyed the 50% discount will also be able to do so at Max, but under much lower conditions. At the same time, the platform does not give us the opportunity to pay that established 50% but on the Premium plan, even if this meant a price increase.
This is a decision that almost no one will like and many even consider that Max seeks to get rid of those subscribers who pay half. And if you change plans, for example, to Premium, you lose that benefit.
