As it could not be otherwise, the software giant Microsoft takes maximum care of its two operating systems currently supported, Windows 10 and 11. It achieves this through patches and updates that reach us constantly, such as the case.
And at this time we have the possibility of downloading and installing different quality updates for both operating systems. This is precisely what we will tell you below so that you can see first-hand the new features that you already have the possibility of adding to your team.
Apart from the usual security updates, the firm also sends us different patches, improving existing functions and adding new ones. In this way we can get the most out of Windows and take advantage of the latest technologies at all times.
Latest updates for Windows 11
For example, and if we focus on Windows 11, we have the quality update KB5046732 available for versions 23H2 and 22H2. Perhaps the most striking thing about it is that it is full of new features that we are interested in installing on our computers as soon as possible.
In fact, it could be considered one of the biggest optional updates for Windows 11 and can be installed through Windows Update. One of the changes that the update brings is related to the Personalized Experiences function, which has been renamed Personalized Offers, features that we can deactivate at any time. Below we show you the rest of the new features of this update for Windows 11.
Changes to the taskbar. Windows 11 KB5046732 displays a compact date and time format by default. Additionally, if Do Not Disturb is on, the notification bell icon disappears.
File Explorer improvements. Now we can share content with an Android device directly from the context menu of File Explorer or from the desktop.
The Start Menu. Apps pinned to the Start menu now display lists when you right-click on them, making navigation faster. Additionally, if we hold down the Shift + CTRL keys while clicking on an item in the list, it will open as administrator.
Dynamic lighting. The Windows Dynamic Lighting Settings page now displays position messages if no compatible devices are connected.
On the other hand, in Windows 11 we also find the KB5046740 update for the 24H2 version of the system and it includes some new features. As in the previous case, this is an optional update that comes to us through Windows Update. Of course, this patch includes all the new features that we have described previously and that arrive with the aforementioned KB5046732 update.
Here we can add that in the Settings app we will see a new section dedicated to touch gestures for the screen. We find this in Settings / Bluetooth and devices / Touch. This allows you to activate the touch gesture on the left or right side of the screen. In turn, Microsoft is improving speech-to-text and vice versa features in Windows with greater reliability in the process.
Install update KB5046714 for Windows 10
Moving on, it is worth noting that Microsoft does not forget about Windows 10, which will reach the end of its useful life next October 2025. However, it continues to receive some updates, as is now the case with KB5046714.
Here we are going to find some corrections to recently detected bugs. In addition, it is a patch that we can install directly from Windows Update. These are the corrections that we are going to find:
- Fixed bug with shortcuts that did not back up to the cloud.
- Fixed a bug when dragging and dropping files from a cloud file provider folder. Sometimes I moved the content instead of making a copy.
- Fixes bug in Windows that does not activate after replacing a motherboard.
- This update updates profiles for certain mobile operators.
- Fixed bug where Windows stops responding when using a USB IPP printer.
