Android users are celebrating, as Google has released an update to its Gmail app. This incorporates one of the requests that many people were making repeatedly and that comes with the intention of providing additional value to a service that thousands of users use every day.

In the last few hours Google has published an update to Gmail and has done so in style, given that, as we indicated, it incorporates a long-awaited change. This update is now available, so if you have an Android phone you can probably already benefit from it. At that moment, what you will find is a notable change in the user interface. Not in the entire interface, but in one of the actions that you surely use often.

Improving responses to emails

The company had been testing this new interface for a good period of time among a few users, but the decision to offer the function to all users was still in process. This, fortunately, has finally changed. This is how the Quick Response system comes into play, a new feature that will save you a lot of time when responding to emails.

A user holds his cell phone while receiving emails

For Google it was a very necessary function because the response system until now was not exactly fast. Until the incorporation of the new quick response system, when we received a new email in the Gmail app we had to manually click on the “reply” button. But, when doing so, what the application did was load the default message writing system. That is, full screen and with all the other options available. The problem is that it was too heavy, since, in most cases, when we want to respond to an email quickly we do not need so much message screen or additional options. In those types of cases, we want a small space to respond without further ado. Hence the importance in the launch of this new function.

This is how Quick Response works

Now you don’t have to follow the original procedure, but a new button has been incorporated that appears at the bottom of each email you receive. Therefore, all you have to do is click on it and the app system will allow you to write a quick response. Of course, the presence of this button implies that the classic buttons that existed before, such as reply or reply to all, no longer appear. In this way, the area at the end of the interface is framed within the use of quick response which, for now, seems to be having a good reception.

The best thing is that Google has anticipated possible user complaints and has thought about this quick response system in a more complete way than we could have imagined. Thus, not only does it have the system to respond, but it also allows you to include attachments, an emoji system to make quick reactions and an option that allows you to edit the list of people who will receive the response.

Receiving an email on your mobile and sending a response

The moment you start typing your response, the interface changes again, although at a lower level. In this case, what happens is that the emoji reactions button changes and becomes the button that you will have to press to send the quick response. In addition, a button is also added to the interface that allows you to switch from the quick response interface to the traditional full response interface.

If this new feature has not yet appeared on your mobile, do not panic, since there are users who mention that it has not yet appeared. It seems that it is a novelty that is spreading progressively, so if you don’t have the update at the moment, you will just have to wait.
