One of the most important elements of any operating system worth its salt, including Windows, is its app store. That is why developers take special care of this section, as we are now going to tell you about with Microsoft.

We are looking at the most widely used desktop system in the world; however, its official store does not have the expected acceptance. Precisely for this reason, the software giant tries to take maximum care of this integrated element, adding new functions based on updates.

As you can imagine, here we want to focus on the controversial Windows system store, the so-called Microsoft Store. Here users have the opportunity to search and download a lot of useful applications and games for the system. In addition, it is constantly receiving improvements, as is the case here, trying to improve both its performance and the appearance of the store itself.

In the Windows test versions, a new update has just been made available to Insider users that directly affects the Store. It is worth mentioning that it is available in the Windows 11 Insider, Canary and Dev channels. In turn, it should be said that one of its main objectives is to correct some design defects.

But that’s not all, as the Microsoft Store has added a major improvement to streamline the process of downloading software from here. We’re telling you all this because, as we’ve seen, a new Downloads section has now been added to the Windows app. Until now, the Library section of the store allowed us to see all the installed apps. In addition, from here we had the possibility of updating them directly when necessary.

This is how Windows Store downloads improve

We’re telling you all this because Microsoft has now made an important decision and has changed this approach that we mentioned. From now on, Insiders will find a new Downloads option at the bottom of the application itself.

At the moment, the Downloads section simply manages app updates on your PC. But the software giant has decided to expand the information available here to improve the management of our installed applications. This way, we will be able to check if there are updates available, download them, or consult the release notes. To do this, we just have to click on the menu button and select the option View release notes.

In addition, by default, the Microsoft Store will show us all installed and purchased applications in a single list. And not only that, we will see the purchase date of each title, whether free or paid. Likewise, we will have the possibility of using the Sort and Filter button to see only the products installed from the store itself. A two-page separation is also included in the display of this data. This is intended to facilitate the updating of apps and the checking of installed and purchased items. In turn, the update also adds a search bar to the Library section. All this to find a specific title more quickly and effectively.

It’s also worth noting that we’ll be seeing some limited-time events on the Games page. These will appear on the game’s page and reflect when they end. Now we just have to wait for these changes to the Microsoft Store to roll out to everyone on the stable version of Windows.
