There are many functions that we find in Windows by default and to which we do not give enough importance. We start to miss them in case they fail or disappear, as happens with screenshots, for example.

An example of all this can be found in the so-called capture tool that has been included in the Windows operating system for some time now. This allows us to generate an image file from what we have on the screen in view. In addition, we have additional functions and different capture modes to adapt the tool to what we need in each case.

This does not prevent having to resort to third-party software solutions in most cases for such simple tasks. Those of you who regularly use this application integrated into Windows know first-hand that it automatically saves our screenshots to the disk location configured in Windows 11.

This can sometimes be a problem, especially for users who are less experienced with Microsoft’s system. But it seems that things are going to change and a customization function will be included for this storage. We tell you all this because in a preliminary version of the app itself, the Snipping Tool now allows us to choose the default folder where screenshots and recordings will be saved.

This is something quite common in external third-party applications of this type, where we can configure the location where our files are saved here. Well, as has been seen in this test version, this will be extended to Windows 11 Snipping Tool.

This is how we will now save the screenshots in Windows Snipping

This is a change that has been seen when configuring the application as such. And now Microsoft adds a new option called Save screenshots to. As you can imagine, this will allow us to establish a personal disk location where new screenshots will be saved by default from now on.

This allows us to choose any folder on our computer by simply clicking on the Change button. We will also be able to directly visit the selected folder to take a look at the saved screenshots by clicking on the Open folder button.

Not only that, this change also affects the screen recordings we make, for which we also have a button that allows us to configure the disk location. It is true that we are not faced with a new feature that affects the behavior of the program. However, it will allow us to improve the user experience and even our productivity by being able to configure the storage of new files.

It should be noted that certain users make extensive use of this application, and this change will have a very positive effect on them. We will even have the possibility of configuring external storage units so as not to saturate the local disks of the computer. This is an application that does not receive too many improvements over the months, so many will appreciate this addition.
