In order to be as productive as possible when using the Microsoft Windows system, we use a series of keyboard shortcuts that have been with us for years. For example, there is one that you use daily to move more fluidly between running applications.

On most occasions we have several programs running in Windows between which we move through different methods. For example, we can use the taskbar that is always in view to click on the corresponding icon for each of them. But we also have the possibility, it is something that most of you use, almost without realizing it, to use this useful keyboard shortcut.

Specifically, we are referring to the use of the Alt + Tab key combination to quickly move between open applications. It allows us to switch between several windows of active applications in Windows. But it seems that now this can become a serious problem in the latest version of the operating system. And to the many problems already detected and discussed with the 24H2 Windows 11 update, we are now going to add a new one.

We tell you all this because, as has been seen, after updating the operating system to its latest recently released version, the use of this key combination causes a serious failure. Specifically, when using the aforementioned combination Alt + Tab, we can encounter a worrying black screen that blocks the PC for a while.

Due to the widespread use of this keyboard shortcut by the majority, this is undoubtedly a bug that Microsoft should fix as soon as possible.

How to fix Alt + Tab failure in Windows 11

In fact, it is important to keep in mind that this is a fairly widespread error among all those who have already updated to Windows 11 24H2. Say that although the Alt + Tab function does not stop working, the black screen remains present for about 10 seconds. Obviously, this is a serious annoyance.

And this delay is unacceptable, especially when you want to switch to another application quickly. To get rid of this bug until Microsoft fixes it permanently, reverting the update is an option. In fact, the software giant has already confirmed that it will fix this important bug on its Update Tuesday next December.

But for all those who don’t want to wait until then, we are going to show you a simple trick that also solves it, at least in part. Apparently the culprit of all this is the Game Mode function, so by deactivating the function, the black screen error when using this key combination is fixed. However, saying no is a foolproof method. The black screen continues to appear, although for less time.

Basically, this means that if you regularly use Alt + Tab in Windows 11, perhaps the best option right now is to go back and uninstall the recent 24H2 update. At least until next December, when Microsoft definitively fixes the bug.
