Home devices made by Google are compatible with the Google Home app. Thanks to it, we can connect them to the Internet, automate their functions and adjust them according to our preferences. These features make the devices “smart.” But this term has nothing to do with the artificial intelligence that is so important in the tech sector today. That is finally changing, since Google Home is incorporating Gemini into the app.
The future of AI is going to impact life as we know it, as many experts have been announcing since this technology began to be a trend. Products compatible with Google Home are the latest to join the change. With the integration of Gemini in these devices, we can turn our house into a true Smart Home.
Gemini inside Google Home
At the moment, AI in Google Home is coming through two functions. It will be enough to have an IoT (Internet of Things) device compatible with the Google application to take advantage of the smart news. These are:
- «Help Me Create«, which helps you generate automation that adapts to what you want. For example, with programming that adapts to your schedule or that is more energy efficient.
- «AI Camera Search«, designed for Google Home smart cameras. With it, you can ask your cameras if they have seen something using more natural language. In this case, you can make sure if the SEUR or Correos delivery person has stopped by your house. Likewise, they will give you a summary of what they have seen when you were not at home.
Both the “Help Me Create” and “AI Camera Search” functionality will launch first exclusively for Nest Aware subscribers. This plan allows you to try preliminary versions before anyone else and is not available in Spain. Therefore, we will have to sit and wait for it to be deployed in Spain.
As announced, the “AI Camera Search” function is now enabled for Nest Aware users. Meanwhile, “Help Me Create” won’t have a beta on the paid subscription for a few months.
What has been launched for free is Google Home on Gemini. However, we Spaniards still cannot enjoy it. We already talked about this a few days ago, but we leave you a small summary of the implications that this new technology entails in the next section.
Control your smart devices from Gemini
Google Home is not the only application that has changed. Google developers have also introduced a new Google Home extension to the Gemini chatbot. In this way, you will be able to manage your smart home from the application of artificial intelligence. This novelty is only available in English and in the United States at the moment, but we hope that sooner or later it will also be updated to Spanish and deployed in Spain. Of course, they are only enabling it in the Android operating system, so iPhones with iOS will be left out.
Google has not yet explained how using Google Home from Gemini could help. However, Alphbet’s chatbot allows you to write things in natural language, while this is not possible with other brand tools. This is not only more convenient, but it can be useful for people who don’t quite understand the Google Home settings.
The technology company wants a truly intelligent ecosystem and does not stop demonstrating it with the implementation of more functions with AI. That Gemini is now available through a couple of functions on Google Home, and that said application can also be used from the famous chatbot is an example of this.
