Samsung smart TVs are characterized by being among the best on the market. Not only do they provide good image and sound quality, but the user experience is ideal and fluid, with incredible performance. However, when it comes to turning on the Smart TV, we can notice that it takes a while to start up. This is easily solved if you disable the start menu.

The operating system that works with Samsung Smart TVs is Tizen OS. Its user interface is very intuitive, easy to use and practical, and one of the key features is the Smart Hub. Thanks to this start menu, the television gives direct access to the streaming apps that you use most, such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Max, Disney Plus+, Movistar Plus+, YouTube or Pluto TV, among others.

In theory, the home menu on Samsung smart TVs allows us to access applications more quickly. However, this centralized interface can have the opposite effect when turning on, especially when we have many apps installed.

This is because the Smart TV will want to show us the options that are available and it will take a long time to load them all, with the preview of recommended content and services. The Smart Hub consumes a lot of system resources and, although it may be very useful for some, depending on the users it does more harm than good due to performance issues. For this reason, one way to optimize the operation of a television with Tizen OS is to eliminate this tool.

As soon as you disable the home menu on your Samsung Smart TV, you will notice the difference, especially when you go to turn on the TV or return to the main interface. We show you how to do it below.

Deactivate the Smart Hub on your Samsung TV

If you consider that your smart television from the South Korean brand is not running as fast as you would like, and you are considering getting rid of the Smart Hub as a solution, you just have to turn on the device and enter the “Settings” section. Once inside, click on the “General and Privacy” section and scroll down until you find “Home screen option”, which is what interests us.

In this way, the Samsung Smart TV will show you that the “Start with Smart Hub Home” option is activated by default. However, it will give you the possibility to remove it if you click on “Automatically run the last application”. When you do this, the television will show the channel or program that was on when you turned it off. That is, the device will not have to load so many apps, but only one content, something that will make the system run more fluid.

If after trying it you are not convinced, you can always go back and activate the Smart Hub function again. The process is just as simple: go to “Settings” > “General and Privacy” > “Home screen option”. Although the step by step is identical, this is where there will be a change, since, instead of removing “start with Smart Hub Home”, you will have to check it to have the start menu again.

There are other ways that can help you improve the performance of your Smart TV. For example, keeping applications and the Tizen OS updated or not filling the internal storage memory almost completely. However, if you don’t mind doing without the Samsung Smart Hub home menu, it can be a key solution so that you can move around the television interface as soon as you press the power button, without eternal waits and slowness problems.
