Bad news for new users who want to become Simyo customers. The operator decides to modify one of its conditions that is key for many: permanence. From now on, you will have to wait longer to port to another telephone company if this operator does not convince you in the end. Everything will depend on the rate you are going to contract.
There is no doubt that the commitment to permanence is one of the conditions that are most closely looked at when contracting any type of rate. As usual, you don’t have to worry about mobile-only plans, but you do have to worry when you want to contract only fiber or fiber + mobile. That’s when the classic permanence comes into play, since the operator gives you the fiber installation “for free.”
What rates does the new permanence affect?
If you have questions, you can now check it on their website. Simyo has modified this condition, that is, the permanence has increased. Although it has not done it for everyone, only for customers who contract a fiber rate without mobile:
«In Simyo you have no permanence of any kind on your mobile line. If you contract fiber with a reduced fee, we will give you the installation for free if you stay more than 3 months. If you contract standard fiber, 9 months. If you have to leave early, it’s okay. We will only charge you the proportional part of the installation based on the days you have left. It’s fair.”
The operator decides to increase the permanence for fiber-only rates to 9 months. To date, it did not matter whether you contracted fiber + mobile or just Internet, since the time they asked for was always 3 months. Something that usually happens in many other telephone companies. The big drawback is that, from now on, this changes forever for this operator. And it is something that you can review directly on their website.
Be careful not to leave early
Plus, it comes with no installation cost. if Simyo fiber is contracted and is maintained: “for 3 months if you contract it together with a mobile contract line with a fee equal to or greater than €7/month” or “for 9 months if you contract it without a mobile contract line with a fee equal to or greater than €7/month” €/month«. Therefore, we must also take into account the detail that the mobile line is higher than 7 euros per month, as reflected on the operator’s portal.
And if you leave early, you have to pay 120 euros in installation costs prorated for the time you have left to complete the 3 or 9 months, depending on the plan you had contracted. On the other hand, there is also the detail that you have to return the router within 45 days of unsubscribing, otherwise, the telecom will charge you 50 euros. But, this is something that also applies to the rest of the telephone companies. The really curious thing is that this operator is committed to increasing the permanence of only fiber now to 9 months, while brands like Pepephone, O2 or Movistar do not have it, or in the case of Digi and Lowi, it is always 3 months.
