The arrival of flat rates, with unlimited data and calls, has meant that many of us do not always take into account the cost of additional services. On many occasions we think that everything is included, but when our bill arrives is when we realize how wrong we were. By deactivating some settings, we will avoid incurring these types of expenses, reducing risks and saving a good amount of money.

For many of us, our smartphone It is the epicenter of a large number of tasks that we perform in our daily lives. With it, we can respond to emails, be aware of the progress our coworkers have made on certain tasks, or even edit documents before giving a presentation.

For all this, it is essential that we have a good voice and data rate. If we have contracted a rate with a fixed price, it is possible that we think that all the consumption made is included in it. However, the reality is quite different and there are always some services that can represent a significant extra cost on our final bill. Luckily, deactivating them is very simple.

Deactivate Premium SMS

There are different Types of Premium SMS: from those that we receive because we have subscribed to a TV contest or a ringtone platform, to those that are used to make contributions to NGOs, for example. In all cases, the cost of these messages is significantly higher than traditional SMS and, furthermore, the price is set by the company that provides the content.

Every time we receive one of these messages, we must pay a price set by the company that distributes them, as Orange warns. Luckily, the orange company offers us the possibility of deactivating them directly from its application. We have to access the application and in the “My line” menu, go to the “Manage my line” section. Next, we look for the “SMS and MMS” section and deactivate it. From that moment on, we will no longer be exposed to paying for this extra service.

Special pricing numbers

Special pricing numbers can also be a source of expenses that we do not have control over and that, in many cases, we do not realize. Premium rate numbers carry an extra cost and are those that start with 80X / 905X / 118XX.

To deactivate them, we must go to the same section as in the previous case, but within “Manage my line”, we have to access “National calls” and make sure that we have deactivated these options. We can also deactivate them by indicating so through WhatsApp, by contacting the number: 653 85 00 85.

More settings

In addition to the two options mentioned, there are other reasons why our bill can increase without realizing it. One of them is roaming. If we are going to travel abroad, we advise you to contact Orange in advance to find out what the operator’s rates are in the country you are going to visit. You may connect from there with the confidence that you have the same gigabytes available than in Spain, but that is not the case. Check what’s included and set appropriate limits on your device.

It is also important to check if you have any extra services that you have used at some point, but that are no longer useful to you. The most common case is MultiSIM servicefor example, which allows you to share the megabytes and mobile number of your main line with your smart watch. Other services that may incur extra costs are mobile insurance or caller ID. Both can be disabled by contacting the company’s customer service.
