Microsoft does not stop introducing new features and improvements to Windows 11 to satisfy the needs and preferences of the majority of users. However, these changes cannot be said to please everyone.
So much so that the software giant launched a change in Windows 11 just a few days ago to, in some way, perform a small cleanup on the system’s taskbar. Sometimes we saturate it with information and shortcuts, so this modification is intended to leave us more space.
Specifically, this change makes direct reference to the date and time that we have found in this section of Windows for years. Normally, we found that we could see the day, month and year on the screen at all times, but now this last piece of information has been eliminated.
With the new design implemented in Windows 11, we only have the possibility of seeing the hour and minutes, something that hardly convinces almost anyone. As a curiosity, we will say that the AM or PM information has also been eliminated. Microsoft says this has been done to free up space on the taskbar, but while some users may like the change, others may dislike it.
At this point we will tell you that the good news is that Microsoft has also added a new option that allows us to reverse the change. This means that users who do not like this new design will be able to restore the classic behavior of the taskbar in this regard. That is precisely what we are going to show you in these same lines.
How to change the new date layout in Windows 11
To carry out this modification that we are mentioning, all we have to do is click with the right mouse button on the date and time in the task bar. From the options that appear on the screen we now select the one that says Set date and time.
This is something that we can also do by opening the Settings application with the Win + I key combination and going to the Time and language section. Next we just have to display Show date and time in the system tray, where we uncheck the Show abbreviated date and time selector.
The change is immediate, so from that moment on we should see the complete date and time in the taskbar again, as was the case until now. And we must keep in mind that this is data that we constantly have on the screen despite the programs we have running on the system, hence its importance.
Not in vain, the aforementioned taskbar, over the months, has been one of the elements that has generated the most controversy since Windows 11 was launched. Almost no one has liked the design of this important component of the operating system in comparison. with previous versions.
