Many users of the platform are trying to skip ads on YouTube videos. And all thanks to the use of different ad blockers, which are undoubtedly one of the main enemies of this Google service. That is why they are implementing different measures to put an end to these methods.

YouTube has started using a new strategy that makes some users who use ad blockers see a black screen for a few seconds when playing a video. Although, it is not something that is repeated for all users, since this depends on the program used to skip the ads. In any case, it is another of the many steps that Google’s service takes to get users to end up betting on paying for the Premium subscription.

YouTube wants to end ad blocking

Google has been working for quite some time to crack down on extensions or programs designed to block ads on YouTube. An idea that began to be implemented last year, when the first measures were taken to limit the playback of videos from free accounts in which these types of add-ons were used. Later, a series of other actions were also carried out to further limit extensions such as AdBlock or AdGuard, as well as other third-party applications to skip advertising.

The most curious thing of all is that the fact that users see the black screen on YouTube for a few seconds comes after there was talk of a new technology to insert ads on the platform. With this technique, it is possible to disable this series of tools, since they manage to add the advertisement directly to the video stream.

The new problem has been reported by many users of the platform through Reddit. And with this latest measure by Google’s service, it is beginning to be noticed that it has begun to be implemented more generally to all accounts. With this, instead of offering an advertisement, the platform pauses for a few seconds with the screen going black. The waiting time ranges between 12 and 30 seconds, according to the users themselves. Once this time has passed, the content of the video in question then begins to play.

However, it has not been given to all users who use any blocker, but to those who use uBlock Origin. On the other hand, it is thought that these types of black screens are ads that have been blocked by this extension. However, the real purpose sought with this add-on is not achieved: to skip the ad. Since users have to wait for the black ad to play before watching any video. What is clear is that with this new method, this video service wants users to end up betting on the Premium version, since it is the only legal way to not see ads.
