Among the many internet browsers that we can choose to use on a daily basis, most prefer Google Chrome. With a much higher market penetration than the rest of its competitors, this is one of the most used programs on computers and mobile devices around the world, but it is not without its problems.

Precisely for this reason, the problems and bugs related to the software that we are discussing are of enormous importance. Even more so if we take into account that these problems are caused by a security flaw detected in the application. This is precisely the case that we are going to talk about in these same lines. We tell you all this because Google has just released an update for its Chrome web browser. The main reason for its existence is to solve a security problem that can be exploited right now.

Specifically, we are referring to the Chrome 100.0.4896.127 emergency update that has been released for all supported desktop operating systems. With this, what the search giant intends is to solve a Zero-Day security problem. You have to know that this emergency update is being rolled out gradually for all compatible devices. This is something that we can carry out manually by accessing the configuration menu of the program itself. To do this, we only have to go to the Help / Information menu option in Google Chrome.

chrome security update

As soon as you access this section, the program itself will carry out a check with the firm’s servers to download and install this security patch. We must bear in mind that initially the firm responsible for the program announced the release of this update, but did not provide details about the problem.

Update Chrome as soon as possible to browse safely

Later it was learned that the vulnerability it corrects is considered to be of high severity. To give you an idea of what we are talking about, it is actually a security flaw with Google Chrome’s JavaScript engine. To say that this type of vulnerability can lead to the execution of code, as it seems to be the case in this particular case. Hence precisely the importance of updating the program as soon as possible to correct the vulnerability.

In fact, the responsible company itself indicates that it is aware of an exploit that is currently being used with the aforementioned vulnerability. Of course, at this time Google has not provided specific data; something common in these cases. The reason for this is that since the affected companies that release the security patches want the updates to be rolled out first before detailing the bug. And it is that the premature publication of information could lead to the creation of other exploits by multiple attackers.

At the same time we must take into account that so far this year Google has published a total of three updates for Zero-Day vulnerabilities for its chrome browser. Thus, other programs of this type based on Chromium can also be affected by the security flaw. Due to this, it is likely that those responsible will soon publish security updates for them.
