Surely you are familiar with the practice of modding, which is customizing the computer tower in different ways and even creating one from scratch. Something you may not know is that one of the branches of this practice is based on the customization of the Windows user interface. Well, you can easily get into customizing Windows 11 using the WindowBlinds 11 software.
Native Windows layouts are quite limited. It allows you to make some changes, but you are still a non-conformist and want a higher level of customization. What this software allows us to do is go further and create a “skin” of the Microsoft operating system according to our tastes.
You have to know that WindowsBlinds 11 is paid software, although it has a free 30-day license. The software is priced at 35.99 euros on the official website and 28.99 euros on Steam. Obviously, it is more worth buying it from the Valve store than from the official product page.
Change the layout of Windows
It is a fairly simple software to use that has a large number of themes available. There are many compatible with Windows 11, but others are more focused on Windows 10 and earlier versions of the operating system. Despite being focused on “old” versions of the OS, we can implement them without problems in Windows 11.
The application downloads a set of interesting and some retro themes, which we can install. In addition, it has a huge library of “skins” that we can apply to our Windows. There are ones for all tastes and colors, the latter could never be better said, since many colors and styles are covered.
Within the section to download more styles we will find an infinite number of options available. There is a filter that allows you to choose between different subcategories, some of them being nature, television, sports, video games or food, among others. There are even religion, Christmas and Halloween themes, so that everyone can feel represented.
It also adds a search engine that allows you to type different terms to find designs that fit. In the end we will even find an option that allows us to filter by all those designs compatible with our version of Windows.
It includes a wallpaper section, which is quite limited. The available options are based on the native Windows 11 backgrounds and all the images we have inside the “Images” folder. So, in this sense, it is not very interesting.
It has the option to add this design to different applications. It natively integrates Chrome and Opera, but we can add different applications that adopt the new “skin” that we add to Windows.
WindowBlids 11 issues
Microsoft has implemented deep changes to the Windows 11 user interface that cause problems with this software. This makes adjusting these designs complicated and many of them are “forgotten” by the creators. So not all options and features of the operating system are integrated with style changes.
This makes WindowBlids an incomplete and buggy application, making it unattractive. The new skins mostly cause problems in the start menu, widget panel, and notification panel. Additionally, as we have mentioned, not all available skins are optimized for Windows 11, something that can be seen only in the description.
You can see that we have activated a random theme and the result. The Windows Bar and “File Explorer” are affected, but nothing else. The start menu or notifications are not affected, as is the Microsoft Edge browser. Surely there are themes that cover everything, but they will be the fewest and finding them will be a matter of downloading themes and trying them, without further ado.
The option to filter by designs compatible with Windows 11 is quite limited in possibilities. It allows you to see which ones are compatible with this operating system, but not apply additional filters. The search is also “deactivated”. Come on, it is a unique filter, not compatible with the rest of the filters.
To be honest, WindowBlids is not worth it at all. We would not pay anything to use this software after the trial period ended due to its “defects”. Note that this is not the fault of the software, which works well in other versions of Windows, the problem is the profound changes made by Microsoft for Windows 11.
